Mark Fawcett's take on the Unions was that "I like the feel of them underfoot. Really feels like a Union binding. Strong contact at the boot sole to footboard interface."

The only binding that's really a huge departure from all of the v2 bindings is the EST Genesis... which is more than adding EST to a Genesis. It's lighter, flexier, more board feel and more responsive actually... totally different beast.

I'm picking up a Gril Master just to pair it with one of these bindings. My first Burton board I've ever owned actually (if you disqualify the Backseat Driver powsurf). I rode my buddies 155 Gril Master w/EST Genesis and it was so light and responsive. It feels more like a skateboard than the volume shifts ever did to me... but can still hold a decent edge (doubt its the best in icy/super hard conditions). May end up being my mellower riding / powder trees board.

Gril Master is definitely on my list. It's the only board I wanted this season and haven't picked up yet. I think this is the last year for it so I need to snag one.

I like the new base and topsheet more, but I couldn't pass up $285 for last year's 155cm with only a couple of rides on it. I only have 8.5 boots, so I think the 160 is a bit wide for my use case.

From StepOn facebook group:

The new boots to replace the Ion and Photon StepOn in 25/26 are the Highshot X Pro (for Ion) and Wavrange X Pro (for Photon). Pic is Highshot X Pro with cutaway showing internal harness and triple Boa connectors. There is no speed lace option and no more snugger straps on either boot.

The newly designed wrap liner is called the Asym Life Liner. There is a new toe box and outer shell. Retail MSRP is going to be more than the current Ion for both boots. Women will get at least one of these too.

The rest of the StepOn line basically stays the same with some new colors. Union, Flux, and Nitro will all have bindings. DC and Nitro will also have boots.

Edit: This is all secondhand from the StepOn facebook group, so take it with a grain of salt. Another user wrote (before the thread was deleted, I believe):

"I'd rather not dive into this but it's hard to sit and read misinformation.
New boot to replace the Ion is indeed the Highshot X PRO
The Waverange X Pro does NOT replace Photon, you should be thinking Step ON SLX or Supreme.
The PHOTON replacement would sit at the Highshot X while the Waverange X would comp Photon Soft or SWATH / Ritual.
If we're going to leak early and ruin it for everyone, lets at least give the correct info."

In 25/26? I heard they are working on a whole standard boot line, but wasn't sure about StepOn.

Mark Fawcett is singing praises on their StepOn binding. It would be so sick if they came out with a boot too to give people more options.

IMO all the bindings just seem so similar with the way the boots interface it may be hard to really differentiate themselves. The one exception to the rule is the EST Genesis which is really a completely different beast compared to all the standard 4x2 mounting bindings. I hope we see more variety between brands, but they may not have the R&D budget (or freedom) to go their own way.

Union is really the only I could see having something completely different... More lateral flex? One can hope.

I don't know if the step-on boot is for 25/26, but I have seen the prototypes/samples.

Understood. With a boot program in development and their decision to go stepon, it would make sense.

I updated my original post about the new boots, but before the thread was deleted on the group (I believe...), another user posted:

When I was updating the website this morning we lost about an hours worth of posts.
