Had to grab screenshots from an old video - october 25, 2008. Got the board in the mail the day before, and the topsheet popped when I strapped in and did a couple presses in the parking lot before we hiked up.

The board was totally fine, really, and looked cool.. could have kept riding it with no topsheet, but understandably, they didn't want it circulating. Mine was a 52. Strangely, my brother still has the 52W from that year and it's never had an issue.

Random detail I never noticed on directional Capitas: they buck industry standard on reference inserts, allowing for more setback without "powder" or "Slamback" inserts.

Every western board I can recall with 4x2 pattern has reference inserts mirrored, one row out from center-most inserts. The Aeronaut-- and the rest of their directional boards glancing through website --doesn't mirror but sets reference stance in the same nose-to-tail row on both front and rear inserts.

i.e. in this image, inserts on left are two rows from center, inserts on right are one row from center.

I really like this. Only have one set of inserts behind reference on the front binding occasionally limited me on pow days... because I only had one insert row behind reference, I could only get more setback by widening the stance or buying mini-disc bindings. This approach still allows healthy stance options, and is less gimmicky and limiting than powder inserts. I don't own any mini-disc bindings, but I don't ever have to think about binding compatibility.

The trade-off is then anyone deviating too far from reference width is then limited, but any rider affected by that is probably doing their research before pulling the trigger.

Pretty sure my Korua Otto was set up like this. It didn't have markers but the inserts you pointed out seemed to be the only way to get the listed reference stance on it. I think it makes more sense too.

I think I slept on the DOA for too long. This combo with the Holograms was so fucking fun today. The perfect balance of buttery, slashy, and poppy for all mountain freestyle. It obviously doesn’t touch my Super 8 or Passport in carving, but I didn’t get it for that. It’s the lazy groomer day board I’ve been wanting. Also probably the lightest setup I’ve ever had, noticeably so when spinning and hitting side hits.

By far the softest snowboard I've ever owned; listed at 6.5/10, more like 4 or 4.5. Megalight but made of cardboard, broke it my first day out.
This discussion explains a lot for me. I bought a 156 BSOD of someone on EL (It was really cheap, like $150 or something) but I always thought it was way softer than a BSOD should have been, even after breaking in. Its this year. Ill agree its crazy light though. Granted I've had it in the regular rotation for a number of years so I don't think its all too terrible. That said I haven't been on a new deck in a long, long time to compare to. Makes an upgrade purchase all the more reasonable this year.

Aeronaut is a ripper. Posting from the lift at Palisades, I’ll have some more concrete first impression when I get home. But quick version is not too gnarly at slow speeds and holds up beautifully going fast. Top speed today is 50 mph in relatively firm conditions and never felt sketch…

…because of the board. Misjudged a couple side hits in the shade and crowds are out in force with holiday and limited terrain. But I feel super comfortable holding back on narrow cat tracks with jerries every which way and also opening up the throttle.

Hell yeah, good to hear that. I wanted to take mine out today at Sugar Bowl but went with the rock board again just in case.

How was SB? I went back and forth riding a new deck this early in this and a season, a local buddy convinced me I was fine as long as I stayed on piste and was careful on side hits. Palisades really upped their snow making game.
