if you're venturing out of the more central area of Montana, I cannot recommend Lost Trail highly enough. it's out in the boonies, so amenities are minimal, but it's got top notch terrain and a true mom & pop vibe. Jackson Hot Springs is great in the evening but a little further drive, I would avoid Lost Trail Hot Springs.

either Yellowstone Hot Springs or Chico Hot Springs south of Livingston both make great stops on the way in or out, although slightly off the direct route.
