Montana
Heading to MT the first week of March if I can get healed up in time. We are planning to spend most of the week at smaller spots. Any pro tips on Great Divide, Discovery, or Bridger? (and/or surrounding towns). We'll spend 2 days at Big Sky as well, I've been there a few times and know it well enough to get around some.

Re: Montana
only been to Bridger out of those, but it's a pretty great time. Powder Park & Alpine Lifts were my favorites for lapping. would like to do more exploring over on the south side of the resort off of Pierre's Knob. everything up in the bowls is rad when the snow is fresh, but gets chopped up real quick.
In Bozeman, we always stop at Backcountry Burger bar for a dinner, Sweet Peaks for post ride ice cream, and The Daily is right on the way to Bridger for breakfast and coffee.

Awesome, thanks for the Bozeman shouts, that's where we'll camp out for a good chunk of the week riding Bridger and BS.coleslawed wrote: Wed Jan 29, 2025 4:09 pm only been to Bridger out of those, but it's a pretty great time. A lot of Juneau kids end up going to MSU, and they all love Bridger. Nothing against big sky, but coming from here, it isn't for everyone. But, then, snowboarding is fun
Re: Montana
Stoked to check out a few of the smaller, independent spots forsure. Some combination of price, opportunity, and desire to not give money to the big boys all came together on this plan.Spenser wrote: Wed Jan 29, 2025 7:15 pm A lot of Juneau kids end up going to MSU, and they all love Bridger. We had a blast at Bridger. Ended up getting a storm that gave us two good days of fresh snow. If you have the opportunity to get up to Whitefish I’d recommend it as well. I don’t remember any specific bars or restaurants but we ate and drank well while we were there. More or less wandered around the downtown area and picked an establishment that stuck out in the moment.
Also had plenty of fun on the hill. My wife and I collided one of the days, haha. It’s was slushy so we were mobbing around, not really watching what the other was doing. At one point I looked over my shoulder and thought, man that person looks really really close, right as we slammed into each other. We were under a chairlift when it happened, so at least someone got a show haha.

I just got back from a 2-week trip to Whitefish. I have been going there for about 15 years. If you like riding trees and rolling terrain you will enjoy that mountain. Bring clear or yellow goggle lens. The fog is no joke.
I have heard some good thing about Blacktail also.
Any of the resorts closer to Canada bring a Skigee the rime can be brutal.

Big Sky is an incredible mountain, if you get snow. Super rocky terrain, if its low tide bring your beater board. My friend who is a skier said the boot tech he was working with told him Big Sky has more ski/snowboard edge fixes and base repairs than any other mountain in North America. Not sure how to prove that one.Spenser wrote: Wed Jan 29, 2025 7:15 pm A lot of Juneau kids end up going to MSU, and they all love Bridger. I did a number on my Party Shark years ago on a trip. Lesson learned. It's such a fun place though, absolutely massive and a lot of varied terrain to choose from.Oldhead wrote: Thu Jan 30, 2025 11:04 amBig Sky is an incredible mountain, if you get snow. I'll have to put Whitefish on the list for next time it sounds like. We're going to stick in the Bozeman-ish area this go.Oldhead wrote: Thu Jan 30, 2025 10:20 am I just got back from a 2-week trip to Whitefish. I have been going there for about 15 years.
