It helps a lot, but sidehilling still isn’t fun.

if anyone is interested in a full Spark setup, I think I'm gonna be switching over to the Union Chargers just for ease of use with my limited split time & quiverability for travel, so moving my HitchHikers + assorted accessories & parts on.

Lounge-only pricing
M HitchHikers from 2018 or so, come with B Doubletake ankle & Union Ultragrip toe straps, plus the baseplate padding kit-$275
two sets Spark pucks-$50ea, $80 for the 2 sets
one set Voile standard pucks-$30, or $100 for all 3 sets of pucks
T1 Riser Kit-$20
Ibex ST Pro Crampon (Wide)-$90
SparkxVerts (no straps, just the Spark mounting pucks)-$70
or
$520 for the full kit & caboodle

@coleslawed I'm thinking of doing the same in the future and ditching both Sparks and KK. I will so rarely split until the kids are older, and when I do it'll likely be in variable conditions where the compromises of most split bindings are very apparent.

As long as they ironed out the major kinks, might be willing to take a hit to uphill for a more normal feel on the down.

The Charger's details have def been worked out, I run last years and like em a lot. Easy transitions and feel like my reg Unions on the downs

If no one is picking up the whole package I could be tempted by some Verts! Can you PM me pics and shipping cost to WA98203?

I went full custom on Sparks, and it worked out well enough. Large Surge baseplate and padding, medium heelcup, Arc highback, Burton Lexa X and OTT straps, front foot flat and back foot canted pucks. Voile riser on just the toes.

Tried Union and they were ok. Prolly in consideration if I break the ones I have, that and Plum. Not as stoked on the sidewalls on Karakorams for some reason, but luckily they are easy to try with many people using them.

Been taking 1 split and 1 regular binding for travels lately, doesn't seem worth it to use the split for everything, after trying it.

I used to know all this stuff.... if I put a small heelcup on medium bases, is it just shorter (for boot length)? Or also lower?

Currently with size 9, I have to push the heelcup all the way forward, and also mount the pucks all the way toward the toe edge, to center my boot... and it's still technically a hair toward the heel. Always found that odd. This is even true with my DCs that are about 1/2 size longer than burton.

Not to deter you but I've been having issues with my chargers. Specifcally the back foot if it's not lined up perfect(which is slightly behind where the line is, the piece that slides forward to lock you in is very very dificult to press down, so much so that when i press hard it lifts on the footbed. I'll try to record a video so I can also send it to union.

Which Karakorams did you have? Metal or plastic baseplate, going with later made a huge difference for me, Good enough to that I can travel now with just one pair

Which set do you have? I have the Connect R, the mid-stiff pre-surf sidewall precursor to Free Ranger. I hoped they could be my single travel binding but I just hate them on solids.

They ride better than Sparks on a split in non-pow and Quiver Connectors are nice for fast changeovers, but I kinda hate the way they feel underfoot. Very rigid and dead, remind me of some of old aluminum Ride Delta Mvmts I hated.
