Re: Pay for parking Summit at Snoqualmie
reading the details of that, it seems like a good thing if you're a passholder?
this seems like more of a preemptive measure to dissuade non skier/riders from parking there and frustrating people actually using the lifts“All Summit at Snoqualmie season passholders, including Nordic passholders, may park at no additional cost. Instructions to register your vehicles will be shared via email in the first week of November, so you can park and play any day this winter,” according to the ski website. “Ikon passholders may receive a discount code to park for $5 a day. The discount code is valid for the same number of days as their Ikon pass.”

Re: Pay for parking Summit at Snoqualmie
Are there that many people that use the parking lot that don't ski or ride, that you need to pay to park? I have hung out plenty in resort lots, I just don't see that many people coming to sight see. Maybe Snoqualmie is different.
Also, why do they use the words "may receive a discount code" instead of "will receive a discount code"?
If this is adopted by resorts in CO and UT, I can see this spinning out of control.

This is a problem one pass north at Stevens. There are always tons of gapers looking to go sledding and take pictures of the snow.Oldhead wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 11:35 am Are there that many people that use the parking lot that don't ski or ride, that you need to pay to park? You also need an uphill pass to splitboard in the area and parking is included in the price.

Re: Pay for parking Summit at Snoqualmie
this probably isn't an issue out west at resorts, but folks will just post up at the bar at some of the local hills here, especially Trollhaugen or Buck Hill at their late nights. it can just be parents hanging out while their kids ride, but for some folks that is their "local" spot in the winter for a beverage, and it can clog up parking for lift users.

this seems like it'd only affect window ticket buyers, otherwise for season pass holders this is good news

Damn, Stevens Pass just announced for next season if you want to park before 10am on Weekends/holidays you need a reservation. It’s free with a 4 person carpool or $20, my oldest kid is off to college so looks like I’m paying or finding somewhere new.

Example of what to expect with Epic.
I don't ride Heavenly very often -- but for the 24/25 season, there are 53 total days that require parking reservations (non-carpool, weekends and peak periods before 12pm) -- so that would be $1,060 in parking fees in addition to your season pass.

Uphill pass? What is this you speak of? Is this isolated to Snoqualmie only?scrub wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 1:28 pm You also need an uphill pass to splitboard in the area and parking is included in the price.
Parking is big business and down in Oz they charge either per day ($65) or push you to a car season parking pass. You cannot even go through the alpine area without paying and they've got cameras upon entry so they make sure they get you. Part of this is done by Parks, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is done in conjunction with Epic in some manner or the other.
