As someone who has spent 5 days there in my entire life, I think I'm a bit of an expert. Maybe it was the conditions and gondola being shut down but I definitely preferred the OV side. The runs we did felt more sustained or easily lap-able and we waited 15 mins maybe twice. I didn't ride the Scott chair or any traverses at Alpine, so I definitely want to go back and explore more though.

Anyone hitting Tahoe in the next few days ?
If so - please post some pics.
I was lucky enough a few years ago to be there when one of those epic storms hit and I’ll never forget it

I’m headed out of town for a week, but I wouldn’t even try to ride until Monday, even Tuesday, at a mellower non-Epic/Ikon resort like Sugar Bowl or Homewood. Palisades / Kirkwood etc are going to take days to bomb/dig out with this much snow— fucked roads + powder froth + partial terrain = zoo.
This much snow is great for more base and lengthening the season, but I prefer 2-3 ft storms than potentially 8 (!!) ft at once. After a 6 ft storm cycle a few years ago I got stuck in zones at Alpine I’ve broken 60 mph before lol.
Backcountry should be off the hook few days after the storm. Might go hunting for leftovers when I get back.

Yah ive been out there numerous time and battled the Wind holds. Pic above is from the heavenly olympic / stagecoach area that’s somewhat immune to winds
Just remember 98% of pow is ridden by 2% of the riders
Anyone gets out there stay safe and share the stoke with pics

100" over 3 days is too much for the town, the hills, and the people.
Was at Homewood when the last storm of this size hit in 2020 (last day before COVID shut down) and it was hilarious how slow we were all going bc there was just. too. much. snow.
I'd be there shoveling the driveway every hour if I was getting it good in BC =)

Monitoring lift situations from afar. Today is going to be a shit show. Palisades just announced they won’t open at all today, Kirkwood is aspiring to get 5, 6, 7 open… which means one epic Chinese downhill run and massive lift lines. Other resorts are either still closed or have a few lower mountain lifts open.
Tomorrow at the gnar resorts could be epic depending how much they dig out. Tuesday and Wednesday at the smaller local resorts would be my first choice. Give snow couple days to consolidate and those spots retain fresh lines better.

Heard from friends that it's weekend crowds out there today and snow is variable.

@bboytommy - How long do you have your ski lease through?
I think I've got one more weekend left in me for the season, probably going to make it up mid-April since I'm busy the next few weekends and at that point will probably switch into golf/summer mode. Still need to get a day in with @kimchi

Have the ski lease til mid April.
Putting out the EZ signal. Let’s do Sugar Bowl this Sunday for a final attempt to meet up. Tickets are $99 w another season pass. Kimchi been saying how much more chill it is on a powder day, so I wanna see for myself.
Who’s in!?

I'm booked this weekend and next, looking at 4/12-14 or 4/19-21 weekends as the next time I'll be up before I firmly shift into golf mode. I MIGHT make it up sometime in May for some slush laps, but probably only getting more last hurrah before season ends.
