Took the kiddos to the hill twice this weekend and saw a surprising amount of Nidecker gear. Seems to be getting a foothold in somehow with peeps.
Saw my first pair of supermatics in person. The guy said he was really liking them. They looked claptrappy to me. But whatever. I can still bend over to buckle my shit for now.
I saw them too, two or 3 guy were rocking them, I think they sell good in Euroland
I noticed also the disappearance of Burton boards.
Burton boots and bindings, yes, but very little number of burton boards, compared to few seasons ago.
Unless you go to a remote resort, then you can find Burton boards regularly and also old gear still around

Yea, just looking at the Supermatics makes clear they won’t ride as well as a comparable traditional binding. The bottom of the base tray looks like a binding from 15 years ago, tons of plastic contact to accommodate that mechanism. And I’d be worried about that massive heel cup dragging.
But just cruising around and repeat lapping the park, might be worth the trade offs. Especially when I start having to chase a toddler around slope in a few years.

The guy I saw with the supermatics basically said he got them because his buddy got stepons and he was jealous... but loves his boots and didn't want to change them. He showed me a couple times how easy his boot went in and came out... but we were in the lift line on flat ground. But for a certain rider I can see how they're an answer.
The swinging heel-cup thing on them tho.... idk... I can see that being an issue.

You guys have no clew. Only one fast entry binding is king.

I'm curious to hear your impressions of the board, after you will test it on the snow
For sure will add some thoughts on it here when that happens.
I picked up a 23/24 Smoke 158 looking for a directional board that obviously turns, but also floats low angle better than my first year Amplid Surfari. My Surfari 157 has incorrectly drilled insert packs (drilled with the wider 161 pattern), so I have to ride the inner-most holes front and rear in order to get my desired stance width.
The Smoke is fairly stiff — stiffer in every dimension than my daily, a Surfari 157. It is not a plank, but the torsional flex is surprisingly rigid. I’d describe it as powerful, smooth/damp — what you’d expect from a burly freeride deck. For me it’s a good conditions and open run board. I had it out early season and did not gel with how rigid the torsional flex was. The shallow side cut depth, coupled with the stiff flex made the effort more than I like to bend the board into tighter turns on crowded pistes. Just for reference, my OG Surfari has a 9.1 sidecut radius that flexes into whatever shape you can power it into.
The standout feature that I noticed on this deck was the ease of glide while on base and on edge. I had Hertel Super Hot Sauce on it and it had glide for days. On edge, it feels fast in the sense that there is less friction than I’m accustomed to with more conventional sidewall/edge profiles.
Me:
155 lbs. (I maybe should have been on the 154)
Mondo 27/US 9 (on Tactical ADVs that have blown through their flex and packed out the liners)

get on in there! if you can’t get 124 bucks worth of fun out of it i bet you could post a local CL ad that just said snowboard for $100 and sell within a day. stakes are low
