Re: The boot thread
My Acerras 3ST took 20ish days break in to a 6-7 flex but was 10-20kg heavier then. If I only get 50 days out of a pair doesn't bother me since 4 backup pairs.

Re: The boot thread
Pretty similar thoughts! Mine felt super comfy and supportive out of the box, but broke down faster than any boot I’ve had. I’d said by 20ish days they felt 6-7 like you said, then 30-40 days they were a solid 5. I retired them around 50 days because they had gotten very soft, but I could’ve kept them as park boots.unsuspected wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 1:05 pm My Acerras 3ST took 20ish days break in to a 6-7 flex but was 10-20kg heavier then. Re: The boot thread
Yea, their durability does seem pretty crap. That said 50 days a boot… I can probably squeeze another 10 out some old Lexicons and I have 1 brand new Lexicon and 2 barely used Acerras… ~150 days on snow could be 10+ years depending on how successful I am at child indoctrination lol.eleveneightnate wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 5:47 pmPretty similar thoughts! Re: The boot thread
For sure haha. I mean, it was the best 50 days my feet have ever had riding, so they were totally worth it.kimchi wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 9:23 pm Yea, their durability does seem pretty crap. Re: The boot thread
Hmm 50-60 days is 2-3 seasons for me, have 20-30 days on my first pair so will see if I'll need to break out one of the backups.
Re: The boot thread
If you don't already: old liners into new boots, rider them a few days, then new liners into the broken-in shells. Breaking in brand new Adidas is never too bad for me (maybe low-key discomfort for 1-2 days), but the liner trick makes it basically seamless.unsuspected wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2024 12:25 pm Hmm 50-60 days is 2-3 seasons for me, have 20-30 days on my first pair so will see if I'll need to break out one of the backups.

Will try to remember when its time for a new pair from the backups.kimchi wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2024 12:31 pmIf you don't already: old liners into new boots, rider them a few days, then new liners into the broken-in shells. Re: The boot thread
I always do this with new boots, sometimes riding the old liners half a season depending on the boot.kimchi wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2024 12:31 pmIf you don't already: old liners into new boots, rider them a few days, then new liners into the broken-in shells. Re: The boot thread
Yep, makes life way easier if you stick with the same company one boot to next. Might work between companies, but can get wonky results depending on shell volume.SJF_NH wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 5:01 pmI always do this with new boots, sometimes riding the old liners half a season depending on the boot.kimchi wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2024 12:31 pmIf you don't already: old liners into new boots, rider them a few days, then new liners into the broken-in shells. Only annoyance is I kinda sorta head track how many days I have on a particular set of boots... I can't keep straight when I need to retire liners versus boots as a whole.
Re: The boot thread
Insoles arrived, which alone made these Dialogs feel much better. I also tried stacking them on the original insole; going to be my go to for the time being. I need something a bit thinner for actual use, but in concept it takes care of my forefoot volume issue, and the flex feels way more natural without the boots cranked so ridiculously tight. Also want to play with cutting out the inside strip of the "spacer insole" for a slightly canted footbed.Spenser wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 12:03 pm I have a few tognar bits on my DC transcend liners. I have pads on each side of my ankle to generally reduce volume around my lower foot, and then on top of those I have C pads for the ankle bones. Added a piece a bit above the heel where your leg gets skinnier around the Achilles, also to reduce volume in that area to provide more hold. For insoles I still just run superfeet because they still work best for me, and for about 10 years now I've used a thin, flat foam insole underneath to slightly reduce vertical volume, as I have a low volume foot. It also reduces the need to crank laces quite as tight, which can sometimes lead to a sharper angle at the ankle. Also adds a bit of damping.
