The Contact pro platform was wobbly at least, pita with 10 degree forward canting from snow buildup under the binding, that would suck at places like Baldface. No issue on others I've tried. Heelcup slide is still there on most Unions.

Well, I rode Unions at Baldface without any issues. Many in my crew did the same. The only binding issue I've ever seen there is Pat Bridges riding a pair of Malavitas with double take buckles that froze up. Had to unscrew the strap to get them off.

That said, I don't currently ride Union bindings. Got a mix of Now, Rome, and BM.

BUT there is a caveat, the people who brought their own Unions, no issues, the people that were demoing next years bindings with that new base plate that looks like it has the riser, those were the people that were having issues. So maybe all the kinks aren't worked out of that new baseplate yet...

I've heard of this being an issue, but thankfully on , I've never run into myself. From accounts of the issue it seems to be most prominent with high moisture content snow, or if you're going from above freezing to below freezing. I think that my local is advantageous to the issue, because our snow is just light as hell in Utah with super low moisture content.

While I don't ride them, I think Burton still by far, makes the best bindings on the market when you take everything into consideration.

I’m wary of Reflex, seen a pattern of boards breaking just outside the sharp corner of the outside heel. They seem to leave way more aggressive binding rash marks— I don’t generally care about binding marks, but the pattern with Reflex looks like the corners are digging into top sheets. Heard similar grumbling from other brands’ warranty departments about having to replace snapped boards because of B. I suspect the issue affects Burton’s own deck less since the Channel reinforces that vulnerability.

On more everyday level, no micro stance adjustment options on Reflex discs is annoying.

But agreed that their straps and ratchets are industry leading. They’re the one brand I’ve never really to fiddle with shit to make sure I’m secure. Although I never really had that particular issue with Union. NOW/Jones + Salomon on other hand…

I always had the freezing issue with Double Take ankle strap buckles. Got so annoying that I got rid of my Genies/GenX cos of it lol. I ride mainly in Ontario, which could be a factor (hardpacked conditions)? But also happened when I went to Whis 2 years ago (which ended up being the last straw for me lol) .

@pow_hnd I hear ya, I'd do the same, and probably take my Dart with Cartel X or Union Atlas. Although I'd even consider picking up a Pin Tonic, which sounds right up my alley. Regarding mini disk bindings, I've had Ultras (the carbon fiber ones), Falcor and Strata years ago, but I ride Atlas almost exlusively now and I've never had even a single hardware issue with any of them. Maybe I'm just lucky, or more likely it's because I'm famous for cranking the ever-loving shit out of everything.

I should probably go out to Baldface with my treasured Milwaukee #3 Screwdriver of Death and show those fuckers how to manage their shit.

I had some issues to unstrap the ankle strap, with double take ratchets on my jones bindings. Nothing major, some slaps on the ratchets and I was good to go. So far, it's a little price to pay to have that amazing hammock strap

100% agree. I’d go further and say Rome makes the best bindings overall.
