I was a Never Summer rider once upon a time. The eagle doesn’t bother me too much. That fucking polar bear though.
I have heard surprisingly good things about their triple camber, as kooky as the idea seems. Maybe demo it some day.

They’re damp as fuck but those things are unreasonably durable. If they made a shape in a camber profile I liked, I’d give them a shot again. Maybe Academy.

I don't want to spread hate, but I would still like to know why the Capita is experiencing such a huge hype, although I have heard from many people that the boards are not of the best quality...

I think a lot of people prefer to support rider owned brands- run by good people. CAPiTA is that. In spite of some "one-off" issues from year's ago, the board quality is exceptional. Perhaps more than anything- a lot of people are down with the vibe that is created through their graphic stories, history, team riders and board offerings. Those board offerings, in terms of design, specs and construction, work super well for a variety of riders (although, of course, not everyone).

Going back to the overall vibe of the company- I appreciate how they've been able to maintain a "core vibe," in spite of their success and growing market share over the years. (And by "core" I simply mean that they are in business because of their love for snowboarding...that they give back to, and want to support the snowboard community). If you haven't ever seen this, I think this vid expresses the overall vibe well:

Kind of obvious to say, but it mostly comes down to personal preference. If you don't prefer the brand, I don't think that is "spreading hate" at all. Hopefully there is a brand out there that stokes you out.

Hey thanks, I think it depends a lot on the ski resort where you grew up and what brands were present there. Capita came onto the radar very late for me and when they were sold here, there were a lot of people who criticized the quality.
But I'll be sure to check out the video.

I've also looked at the boards and I think there are some very cool things in there. it's just a shame that these springbreak boards are so fixated on their rocker... I'm more on the camber side and just see more advantages over hybrid or rocker.

I think a slight rocker on the nose and tail is certainly helpful in the park or even in powder, but in my opinion you can do without it completely.

It's important to me that the brand doesn't build skis and also takes a stand against them a little, in switzerland there was recently a documentary about 40 years of snowboarding in switzerland and the former FIS snowboard boss said he didn't see any difference between skiing and snowboarding. since then my opinion has hardened a little, because from my point of view that's just complete garbage.

I don't drink Monster in a Nuggets 59FIFTY with the sticker still on it while driving a WRX to Breck and listening to Pretty Lights, therefore I cannot buy a Never Summer.

apparently Nidecker is now part owner of Mervin, and even bankrolled a new factory for them (still in WA state, just closer to Seattle) that is building the youth/budget boards.

Honestly, how did Nidecker ever make enough money to start snatching up all these other brands? Are they that popular in Europe?

nidecker has been here since the beginning of time. Their slalom boards were already competing against the PJs. Here basically a lot of years ago there was B and then everything else that was nitro, and those that were starting out that were Salomón and other minority brands. There was no rome or capita or other brands... that arrived much later. Almost all the brands from that time disappeared. I would arrive with my new B board anywhere and there I would disappear among a pile of boards. B new season top models and then all the rest. A lot of nidecker rental boards. But nidecker continued

Today Burton is completely diluted, selling mainly low-end boards, process and step ons, Salomón works towards the stores with very good incentives that is why it’s a brand that is seen a lot and on the other hand you have occupying that space that was previously from Burton to Jones and There is a huge market for shitty rental boards since before people could buy packs of €400 boards, boots and bindings that brands offered to stores and today all that no longer exists so I guess people will go more to the price and not so much to the brand in online stores, with cheap stocks such as SnowCountry Bluetomato or Snowleader. But jones everywhere

My riding buddy has gone all in with NS he has ridden many boards and is a great rider, he likes that they hold up so well he's a bit of an @kimchi on gear . The proto type 2 was what got him into them but he loves his Harpoon.

A friend of mine, who is a legit rider, also has had a lot of NS boards. To me it's always seemed more like a personality type, rather than the product itself. I don't think he has any sort of CO connection - he's from the Midwest, and doesn't seem like the type. A bit strange to me, not that I actually care. I don't know if I've even given him shit about it, hah.
