Whoops sorry for the late response; I managed to take three decks out there and one pair of now drives (your old ones @kimchi) + acerras.

I regretted that I set up the Solomon 55 HPS for my one and only day at Beaver Creek, but maybe it wouldn't have mattered because the hill was so got damn crowded. It just didn't do too well in the chop and chattered and flailed around. Then again I might be too fat for it.

I rode the RDM basic 56 wide the next two days at Sunlight. Had absolute moments of euphoria on it. I would say it's my favorite board, but then I returned home and nowadays prefer my Pencil 59/o-drives setup to everything else I own.

Then again I just bought a Cadet and another backup RDM 58 and a pair of Mercuries because I have a buying addiction/sexy 1st world problem.

can confirm that the Taka x Wolle HPS doesn’t do well in chop. but it’s a dream if you find any sort of fresh/soft stuff. part of the reason I sold mine was its lack of stability, but i had some of my best days on it.

Hey everyone! It's a year later and I got another CO trip happening! This time 3 days at A-Basin, 1-2 days at Sunlight, possibly one day at Loveland. Apparently from mine and my buddy's limited reconnaissance, snow has been touch and go. He claims basin will be only about a third open, and sunlight possibly even less. But I have faith that he's wrong and there's more snow and will be more snow during the time we go - riding days are December 17th through the 21st.

I'd like to bring 2-3 decks with me - one for sure being a 151 powder racer just in case we get any fluff days - but, because snow coverage may be less than desired, my riding style tends to be surfy/skate would trying to hit all the fun features... Should i consider a board that will end up returning as a rock board?

What I was planning on bringing was my leaderboard 58 that I mentioned last year, and the one I'm really excited about is my cadet 54 because it's so nimble and fits my riding style so much. But I don't want to ding or gouge these babies.

My other substitutes would be an uninc basic 156w that I really like a lot and even though being wide it's both super maneuverable and and damp/stable for it's size, and a storyboard 52 that's super great at being slashy and fun for side hits.

Everything will be paired with medium Drives and 8.5 Acerras, with a pair of cartels as my backup.

TIA, Y'all rule.

I have 5 days this season in at Keystone so far. Can't speak exactly to A-Basin, but early season coverage in Summit County has been pretty good so far. It has been snowing frequently and temps have been low, so snowmaking is going off. I've been riding my brand new Super 8 and DOA and haven't had any core shots or anything.

I've only been to Eldora due to kids, but I do know Summit County is at like 80% of average snowpack with a 20-30" base. If you're staying on groomers and sidehits, rocks won't be an issue. If it doesn't snow (not much on the horizon at the moment) and you go exploring, you might find some remaining sharks. We're probably 2-3 more storms from opening a lot of terrain though.

If you're venturing off piste this early, I wouldn't take anything you're not willing to sacrifice to the sharks. If you're staying on groomers, you can bring whatever.

Glad to see you're still rocking those Drives. I've been considering grabbing a new set of the newly redesigned Drive Pros.

Sidecountry/trees are a no-go for me in December no matter what. Too many core shots despite it looking solid in there haha.

Just keep a beater board. I have a delaminating Rome Artifact that is strictly for early and late season. Riding it to my car in the A Basin parking lot in May will buff out any issues.

I also used to have a Venture Storm that would laugh at rocks. Stiff as shit but I bet it could take a bullet.
