Because we need balance for brands like Haglöfs, Hestra, Klättermusen, Tierra and so on. Here its either old outerwear, Dope or 2k GTX full set.kimchi wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2023 8:33 am Dude what is it with Swedes and cheap fast fashion?
If Montec/Dope wasn't bad enough, H&M is apparently getting into the outerwear game. Saw it pop up on SnowBrain's IG and actually thought it was a joke until I clicked through the link.

They're claiming 24k waterproofing / 15k breathability on a $200 retail jacket currently selling for $140.
No world in which this is a good thing for core industry or the environment.

Calling out Swedes specifically was a low-key poke to see how you'd reactunsuspected wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2023 1:07 pmBecause we need balance for brands like Haglöfs, Hestra, Klättermusen, Tierra and so on. Here its either old outerwear, Dope or 2k GTX full set.
I didn't realize Sweden produced that much outerwear on the high-end. The only Swedish outdoor brands I'm familiar with are Hestra, Montec/Dope, H&M now (lol), and Fjallraven. I don't think any of those brands you mentioned other than Hestra have US distribution. I noticed @Spenser's buddy Lars riding Haglöfs so assumed it was high end, but never even heard of the others.
Re: OUTERWEAR
Lars does love his Haglöfs. A bunch of his riding crew wears it too.
Re: OUTERWEAR
I grabbed a Haglofs jacket from my local shop at EOS that was too good to pass up for this season. Will report back later in the season if anyone is interested/curious.

Re: OUTERWEAR
High end outerwear, particularly Arc'teryx (presumably as its the most expensive) has been a streetwear trend here for a few years. Plenty of people walking 10 mins to the bar in a jacket made for mountain guides. Also the mega puffy Antarctic research station parkas for going to get coffee in Autumn is a thing. I think it's just H&M trying to get a slice of that while it's still fashionable. I guess that means it's already over?
Re: OUTERWEAR
Played catchup and spun through the thread, aside from a few passing references, didn't see much on L1. That seems to be consistent with their presence overall. Not much in the way of reviews etc. other than their own content. I really like the aesthetic and have a '23 Alpha jacket in hand to try on. Seems like great quality, and I would pair it with a bib purchase. Any experience with durability, performance, etc? Am I missing something? they just seem to fly under the radar in general (and around here).
PS. Do we have an "introduce yourself" thread. I couldn't find anything. Back after a long hiatus from EL 1-3? 4? I forget how many I made it back to over the years.

Re: OUTERWEAR
I think L1 was acquired by Nitro a while back? They've always felt like quality pieces in person, I've just never committed to buying anything from them. For a while there they were pushing skinny fit stuff real hard. Their Theorem line is supposed to be pretty high quality. I actually really like their Aftershock anorak and it finally has proper 20k waterproofing instead of just a generic "DWR" rating.Muskrat wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2023 10:56 pm Played catchup and spun through the thread, aside from a few passing references, didn't see much on L1. Re: OUTERWEAR
The Nitro connection is correct, at least under the same distribution group (Foundry). Direct sales are from the same webpage. The Jacket I have in hand is the Theorem line, its a super unique fabric, almost soft shell like and stretchy but seems more durable and wind resistant than a true "soft shell". I think they've won me giving it a shot but I need to track down a large. at 5'9" 155 the M is a touch schmedium for my liking.eleveneightnate wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2023 8:28 amI think L1 was acquired by Nitro a while back? Re: OUTERWEAR
yeah, L1 is under the same umbrella as Nitro.
haven't tried them since they launched their more premium/BC oriented stuff with the Theorem line, but I liked them back in the skinny pants/long jacket phase.

Re: OUTERWEAR
I think they're legit. Often overlooked, but it seems like they had a bit of a rebirth recently.
I had an 07 "machine gun etiquette" jacket and it was bomber. Great styling, fit, and features.
