Cool throwback.

I was chatting with a shop guy at Wave Rave a few weeks ago and he confirmed what I'd suspected: the Japanese company that licensed the Sims name in JP-- parallel to the Sports Authority years --took over the brand globally. Hilary Sims briefly revived the brand with Never Summer produced boards for a couple seasons, but the Japan team calls the shots nowadays.

that's gtk. I demo'd a Sims board a few years ago from the NS guys and that was that. They were basically NS boards (same camber profile) but with less hideous graphics

Maaann...I saw this board a few weeks ago on a shop site and really had to think about it hard, because the nostalgia is heavy and it would be soooo cool to ride it. But in the end I just don't ride a twin shape like that enough to justify the buy, and basically just be a closet queen.


Was the same thing with the Peter Line rainbow reissues. And the Franck Whale. and...and...and... etc.


I hope they don't do the Noahs Ark one, because I might cave.

The Wired Devun Walsh Pro model comes in a Canada and China version this year.

Super curious how that plays out for them. The Canada version is about $100 CAD more.

I'd LOVE to see two side by side and see their sales numbers and if consumers are willing to pay the extra cheddar for Canada made. Guess is no-- K2 did a USA-made Alchemist a few years back as a one-off and never heard about it again.

Anyone know anything about Wired? Looks like they do semi-custom (graphics on templatized shapes and cores) Canada-made boards, then their off-the-rack stuff is "Pre-Designed: Made with our partner factory in China". Their off the rack stuff is stupid cheap, even for a direct-to-consumer brand. I'd never have heard of them if not for the Devun connection.

I almost grabbed a board from them a few seasons ago. They were having a crazy summer sale and it would've been like $150. I've only ever heard of them via Devun and a few Angry (lol) reviews (he seems to like them).
