It was a while ago, but I had a couple friends where the chest pocket zippers would constantly blow out. Burton replaced all of them, but kind of annoying to have to go through 5+ jackets in a couple seasons. Same thing happened with the cuff closures.

I have an AK freebird jacket (2017), haven't had issues with the zippers… yet.

Never had a zipper problem on an AK jacket in 20 plus years of using them. Had a couple zippers go on more price point Volcom jackets though.

I had a few teeth fall off on the chest pocket zippers on a Hover jacket but it didn't affect the function.

I guess holden broke up with snowboarding awhile back, but it looks like now Mikey and Scott have both cut ties, and you can't buy anything on their website. wonder if that's the end.

I sure hope so. Who would have guessed that 20k jackets for $950 isn't a successful business model?

Mikey has been out for quite so time. He’s been rolling in North Face stuff for a few seasons now.

according to Scott’s LinkedIn, he left back in November, but their president and creative director are both still there.

i think everything on the site is just sold out for the season, their latest IG post says “thanks for a great season.”

maybe they’ll pack it in, maybe they’ll have a new collection in the fall. but like was said earlier, they haven’t really been in the snowboard scene for a few seasons now. I’ll definitely miss their vibe, the new branding was dope, but I also don’t think there’s a big hole in the market where they were either.

kinda this.

The idea you can take a mid-tier brand and just make it a high end (luxury-ish) brand by raising the price is just not how it works. They didn't do enough (or anything?) to differentiate and move the brand in the minds of the buyer to justify those costs. Whoever was in control didn't understand, and or didn't listen to those that gave heed to how brand positioning works.

Somebody in charge just thought okay so last year our pants were $190... this year they're $900... so people will just think they're that much better and give me more money!!! I'm a genius!

Also, they made down insulated shorts. I guess for those who want to look like they're wearing a diaper under their snowpants. How that didn't go over idk.

The fact that as a snowboarder and fan of Holden, I was confused about if their brand was even a snowboard brand anymore was all I needed to write it off and move on, and so it seems maybe most others did as well. tbd

Exactly. They were a core brand for a long time (always loved their M65 jacket), then we all woke up one day and they were marketing to a completely different demographic that clearly wasn't snowboarding. I chalked it up as a loss and stopped paying attention to them.
