I got the DaKine vest, it is burlier than I expected. feels like it's made out of kevlar (lol) - I normally wear a size small for jackets but I got a M/L vest and it feels snug.

my original intention was to get a small volume backpack (e.g dakine 12L) to carry avy gear for in bounds, I switched to the vest thinking it would be more comfortable to ride with

@benjinyc can't speak to the Dakine or how it fits you, but I had initial concerns about the burliness of my WhatVest that turned out to be unfounded. The material felt super stiff, restrictive, and awkward fresh out of the box. Everything broke in nicely within a day or two on snow.

That looks like quite a sizeable back compartment, almost like a small backpack. How much do you think the capacity is or how does it compare to something like the 12l Dakine packs?

I think it's ~18L, looks like @pow_hnd has one too, he can prob give a better review as he's probably taken it out. I have an AK 23L backcountry backpack, and they seem very similar in volume, I just didn't like riding with the backpack, hoping the vest makes a difference

@sunokeru there is a decent amount of room in it. For some people, enough for a day of touring. I just use mine for going out the gates at Brighton/Basin, so I only keep the bare minimum essentials in it. I got an Ortovox Beast Shovel as it's really small, a 240cm probe and super small first-aid kit. I don't run anything else because I want it super slim for on the chair. I could put quite a bit more in it and honestly I was kinda surprised by the amount of room in it. My homie runs his for gates and pure touring, he hates packs just like @benjinyc, I personally actually prefer packs and they way they feel, it might have something to do with splitting since the late 90s and that's just what I'm used to. But for resort riding, the vest is tits.

@pow_hnd That is pretty much my exact use case - this would almost entirely be for lift/cat/heli accessed riding. And I also agree on having a proper pack for touring.

Been riding the XL longo jacket. New favorite. Kind of a mild canvas outer material, and the black color blocking is ripstop, so sort of has a vintage classic look up close. Fit is sweet, material moves and hangs perfectly for the cut, blah blah blah, going to keep this model on my radar moving forward.

Having issues with teeth breaking on Burtons zippers. Both my right front pocket on AK freebird and banshey but also my gf AK Kimmy the side open zipper are missing teeth. Bit frustrating since its zippers that get used frequently but then they can't handle it. Know that Burton has lifetime warranty, just a bit bummed.
Anyone else with these problems?
