Scoping spots for shots with Rainery. Three pretty fat senders in this little zone. All our snow crusted over (breakable, not bad in some areas) but we have up to 15" on the way through Saturday

Today was wild. Got almost a foot and a half of the lightest snow we ever get here, on top of the couple feet that didn't really get ridden out the ridge, and it was sunny.

we’ve had a decent few days at Lost Trail. weather cooperated as best it could (missed out on planned day 1 due to low temps on the ridge), but that meant. the fresh snow from earlier in the week had a little more time to settle.

@coleslawed stoked to see what you put together. Wish our MT trips could have coincided! That said, I'm glad I was back home for recent conditions..

yeah, you would not have wanted to miss out on that.

the wild part is Lost Trail and Trollhaugen had the same snowfall forecasted going into the week (16”), but Troll ended up getting a little more than that (and more still coming this week) while Lost only got 9”. still a great time, maybe a little more choppy conditions than we’ve gotten in the past.

my old shop buddy (another Spencer) is putting together the edit. he’s the king of dope candid lifestyle shots. he put together this one for evol this fall.

sidenote, I got to demo a sample of next year’s Evol Vessel with my good friend JawnG’s art on it. super solid shape, would like the nose a little stiffer/damper for chop, but carves real well and was an obvious win for untouched tree runs. I had ridden my new-to-me Hometown Hero 165w which was a dream for the first half of day one. floated so well in powder and felt like I was legit floating any time I caught air. just got to be a lot of board to turn by the end of the day. would love a standard width 162-164. Annex 162 was my chunder handler for day 2. always kills that.

Update: Colorado is officially a complete shit show beyond anything I've seen previously and it sucks all the life out of snowboarding that I love so much. I've been here for 15 years (with a short stint in Oregon), and I've never experience such awful traffic and congestion on the mountain as I have this season. Showed up to WP around 9 last weekend, traffic took 3 hours from the Springs (normally 2), main lot was full, Mary Jane lot was full, overflow lot was full, overflow to the overflow lot was almost full and we barely got in. Waited in a mile-long line to get on the bus, bus dropped us off to mile-long lift lines, took a few runs shoulder-to-shoulder with every kook from the Midwest in DOPE anoraks, waited in more lines to get a beer, then said fuck it and went home. Even the damn mushroom patch was tracked out with people on vacation TikTok'ing it and that's an OG "locals" hush hush spot. Took another 4 hours to get home, so 7 hours of driving when it should've been 4.

I say these things like I didn't already know them. I need a surf trip to somewhere isolated to clear my head.

I haven't really been doing logs at all this year, but god damn has it been insane... Yes, we really are at almost 600" on March first.. By the end of day today we probably will be.

ALL. TIME. FUCKING. YEAR!

I was in Taos last week… forgot how great that mountain is when they get snow

pain in the ass to get to from NY, but so worth it since it doesn't get a lot of people.

also like how the town of Taos isn't anything like a "ski-town"

however, the mountain ops are really conservative when it comes to avalanche control. The first day we got there, they shut the entire mountain down 2 hours after opening. On day 2, they didn't open until 11:30am and only spun 2 lifts (out of 8).
