Baldface Lodge

They’ll put you in a better mood when you shred ‘em, so pull up a chair and talk about ‘em

I did, still waiting on that to pull through and the deposit is down for next year, not to be a wet blanket but I was on that fucking wait list for 5 years 😅. Just bummed with the way it turned out, no one’s fault really just bad luck all around. Winter travel can be tough!
Were you trying to fly into Interior BC?

I have some seats for next year, wanna get in on our trip? I can make it happen for you.

Really appreciate that man, we already have our deposits down for 29-31 of Dec. No actually flying into Calgary and driving! I wanted something that was easy and they would have multiple flights per day but with airport shut downs in Toronto and Vancouver and the fact that it was over Christmas everything was booked solid after a technical issue with our flight. Next year we’re just gonna do Christmas in Nelson… fuck it.

Bummer that's why I just drove myself. Not sure where you're coming from. But I'd drive up to 2 days to not have to rely on flights. Or I'd fly in a few days early to make sure I have a buffer and just shred whitewater for a couple days.

20 years today since Craig passed. His daughter uploaded some footage from the early baldface days:

Back to baldface late dec this year! Hopefully don’t get fully sewered by Air Canada again, what are your thoughts on having to go full on powder board for early season conditions. Would I survive on a direction twin/all mountain style board that’s sized appropriately?

Go full pow deck. 12” new is still 12” new, no matter the month.

Nice, our crew is there in early December. Also agree with full pow deck, but also their demo fleet is top notch if you don't wanna bring anything.

I wish I could go to baldface, but not this year. Having said that, with Revelstoke being a little further north, can you just pick any random week in Jan or Feb and score?

I will have open seats for W24/25, in January ( lodge ) and February ( Valhalla )

Want me to put you on my call list...

Would need 25% down in Feb 24, another 25% May 24, and the final 50% Oct 24 for lodge.

Valhalla, 50% down March 24, final 50% Oct 24.

These are my cats and not open to the public, I can get you in if you want.

What's your review on Lodge vs Valhalla? I hear the latter has much steeper terrain, but vibe isn't as fun without staying overnight.

I wouldn't say it's steeper.

I would say it has more technical terrain that is easily accessed right off a cat road/drop off spot. More chutes and for sure some big boy cliff bands that you need some serious balls to step to.

We rode some big ass cliff/pillow lines last year that you had to pay attention to and pick your way through so you didn't end up on top of a 40ft'r with no where to go. Even our guide, whom I've know for the better part of almost two decades was like this is a sketchy line we're gonna do right now.

BUT, steeper, no, I don't feel that at all, and honestly the runs at the lodge are generally longer IMO.

And yeah, the vibe is different for sure since there's no lodge. Honestly the reason I'm going now is to be in place for when Jeff gets a lodge built at Valhalla, so I'll already have my date and my seat set.

It's long days at Valhalla with the way you do it now, 6am to 6pm...

Still better than any resort day though by a country mile.
