Hardgoods 23/24
Re: Hardgoods 23/24
Looks like I'm buying an Aeronaut. Midwide outline, mega edge, medium stiff flex, sidecut average north of 8+. Packed into a small package too, the 161 has the effective edge of a typical 165. Don't love the graphic but I'll deal and do something fun with stickers on that plain white nose.

Yeah, I was impressed with the EE. You just don't see that a lot. Also funny that those waists are noted as narrower, hah. I understand, but remember when upper 250s was wide? And everything normal was pretty much 246-252... and boots were bigger too. Things are good these days.

Only other board recent board from a mainstream company that packs in the edge like that is the Rome Blur (which I also own-- 127 cm of edge on a 162). Pretty fun, the flex is mellowed out but it can still rail turns.Spenser wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 6:19 pm Yeah, I was impressed with the EE. You just don't see that a lot. Yea pretty wild to think how big a turn board shape trends have taken in the past 10 years. I used to ride boards around 250 mm... hell, everyone did haha. Now that Blur is 255 mm and is about as narrow as I'd ever entertain.

Re: Hardgoods 23/24
After spending all this time on the 263 orbit, 264 hammerhead etc, I tried my previously beloved squash last year (255), and it was weird how much narrower it felt. Even my goldfish 160, which is 258 but narrow at the back due to taper, felt way too narrow and I'll probably never ride it again.
It was before I really got into carving, but crazy to think at one point I was loving my 56 uninc (246) with 10.5 ions. And the same year I had a custom wide (257!)
