I'm too lazy to cut out custom pool noodles for each of my decks, but use cardboard boxes. I stack them in bags or with towels in between, then partially wrap them as if I were trying to burrito them. Just enough to protect the edges and the contact points / nose especially. Maybe some light packaging tape to keep things together.

It was like 30 seconds. One went around then the other and on one I cut off about 6"...

Re: Snowboard Luggage/Bags
Good idea, but best for a single board. I've only flown with boards a handful of times, luckily no issues, and generally I'm not really worried about it. When we went to Baker a few years ago, I just used towels between them. I've been thinking if I want to do something better for MT in feb.. still unsure what I'm bringing. Would be nice to keep it at two, but..

Not worried about flying my snowboards. My surfboards, on the other hand, I haven’t had great luck with:

What's the latest on what happens if they damage your stuff? I was planning to do a video of everything in my bag, as proof of condition before flight, at least.

Depends on the airline. And you can guarantee they will try to fight you tooth and nail to not reimburse you.
With the above surfboards and Alaska, they told me they weren’t responsible and wouldn’t cover the damage at all after we watched the Costa Rican baggage guys run them over with a truck. Then, I found a short line of text one day in their policy that said they would be responsible for damage if the damage occurred while the boards were in a specialized case designed specifically for travel (they were, it was a Dakine touring bag). Once I showed them that, they wrote a check for the MSRP of both boards and the bag, after requiring receipts that I didn't have, so I just photoshopped them haha. Keep your receipts if you have them.
For snowboards, I’m not sure what everybody is worried about? They’re not fragile like surfboards.
Re: Snowboard Luggage/Bags
I'd be very worried about surfboards, but not snow. Maybe bindings (I've seen cracked highbacks/etc), but ultimately that's easy enough to put somewhere in carry-on, or maybe a hard-case checked bag. Just trying to keep bags to a minimum.

@pow_hnd where is that sticker from? sweet
Re: Snowboard Luggage/Bags
Um, when I worked at a shop I saw many fucked sidewalls from airline travel and did many receipt producing for customers for reimbursement.
Is it a huge issue? No. Does it happen? Yes. The pipe insulation literally cost me $2.50 Pretty cheap insurance. I’m good with that and less than 5 minutes to protect.
