Check out my new...
Re: Check out my new...
Burton splits made in Canada or Austria now? More camber on Hometown split seems like a good idea since it’s supposed to be softer flexing in the middle, if it’s intended that way.
Re: Check out my new...
Mine has made in Austria printed on the topsheet.
Guessing added camber is to counteract that I'm riding a broken snowboard? Was pretty surprised to see how big the difference was, unless the camber variance on the production run is enormous.
Edit: Now that I think about it, the Backwood split also had a bit of material differences to make it a bit stiffer in middle compared to solid. The solid has carbon forks in the tail, the split has full carbon stringer through the full length of each ski. Guess the amp camber is convergent way to get a bit more beefiness underfoot.

no problem bro!kimchi wrote: ↑Fri Dec 16, 2022 1:23 pmThanks hombre, great beta. Wrote in the split thread I decided to just tear the HTH out of shrink wrap and try itYukonCornelius wrote: ↑Fri Dec 16, 2022 9:44 ami have the HTH 62 and have had it in teton pass, jackson hole zones (cody bowl, rock springs, and unfortunately inbounds), Abasin inbounds, and in some summit county backcountry zones (montezuma/little AK). love it uphill and downhill, and has performed exceptionally well in every condition i've had it in. i had to ride icy moguls in jackson last season on it while having a heavier pack, and it was quite stable and really holds an edge well in total garbage conditions. obviously, it's much more fun in powder and the ref set back is very surfy to my liking. i wish i had this as a solid as well (riding a 160 DT at the moment), great board.kimchi wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 11:34 pm Two new splitboards, Weston Backwoods 163 vs. Burton Hometown Hero 162. Only keeping one, haven't decided which. Gut feeling is I'd like the Hometown Hero better as a daily (little burlier, more switch-friendly), but Backwoods might be a better split (little more nose, earlier early rise, bit softer but not floppy in the nose).
I previously owned a Backwoods split (and solid). I know I like it, but I don't love it. Little soft in the nose for me, wish it had full camber through the tail. It's a solid performer, just like... very reliable but not spectacular to me. I just replaced it with another Backwoods because I got a solid price, and I honestly couldn't find a split that stood out to me as a clearly superior option (maybe a Stranda Shorty 164).
Got a good price on the Hometown Hero and ben interested in the board for years, but they don't make a 162 in the solid (closest is a 160) only the split. It's a bit heavier than the Weston (about 1.5 lbs, although Weston doesn't have the Spark Pucks which are like another 10 oz, so bit less than a lb difference).

The Hometown Hero has SERIOUS camber. Looks like about 13 mm. I was surprised / impressed, that's Korua level camber.

What’s your weight out of curiosity? I’m 210 and it’s a little undersized for me, actually hair smaller than my typical dailies (163). But no one makes a ~165 split that catches my eye, sadly.
i'm 5'9 170lbs currently, and it is noticeably softer than my deep thinker '60, but that is just fine for what it i use it for
Re: Check out my new...
Yea, that basically confirms it's probably a little undersized for me for a split but I'm just going to go for it. Someday I'll probably buy a Stranda Shorty split 164, but I bet this will do until I find a (slightly) bigger shape I like.YukonCornelius wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 9:11 am no problem bro!

Both of those boards look so fun. I debated between the Outsiders and the Indoor for a while, went with the Indoor but I don't think there would be a wrong choice. The Stevens looks super fun, have always loved flat boards for messing around on.

Jeff Holce’s unboxing video is pretty all-time, too.
Re: Check out my new...
My buddy Jake owns Handout Gloves and they dropped this collab this morning. Went and swooped up a pair for my trip to Baldface this week...
