pow_hnd wrote: Mon Dec 19, 2022 9:52 am Well, viewing this thread, I looked at my T-Rice VS. Transcend and see why the gaiter clip is gone...

Love the boots so much, I just tracked down a pair of last years T-Rice in my size and black and ordered them...

So now two pairs of T-rice backups and a set of Transcends. I don't go through boots that quickly, maybe due to being lightish, but feel I'm probably good now for 15 years in my boot game...
If mine end up not fitting you can snag them, too haha.
If they're Black and don't work for you, hit me up!

Tan was the only color they had left in 10s, unfortunately.

Side note: they just showed up and I tried them on. They're pretty constricting in the forefoot and pretty loose in the heels for me. Super bulky, too, compared to my acerras which are 10.5s and significantly smaller in footprint. They feel high quality and I like all the features, but I guess it's back to trying to find an adidas alternative.

I can definitely see how these would work for people, though. They'd be really comfy for the right foot shape and feel like they'd break into the perfect flex.

so, I've been wearing my K2 TTs the beginning of this season (because they are comfy AF) - but I find my Adidas ADVs better for east coast hardpack/ice because they have better support, so I put those on yesterday here in VT.

first thing I noticed was how much smaller the foot print was for the Adidas, like waaaaay noticeably smaller, this was apparent because I had to take the ankle straps out and move them over two notches.

This is half of why I'm gonna miss adidas leaving snowboard. The footprint reduction is just unmatched by anybody. It keeps me in medium bindings instead of larges for the most part. I don't understand why a true snowboard brand can't take a look at an adidas boot and replicate it.

Yep, take the Adidas toe box and mix it with a better heel pocket and a bit of built in forward lean and you have the perfect boot. I always wondered the same thing about hoods. Why not just unstitch an Arcteryx jacket and copy the pattern.

Transcends came in. At first not quite how I remembered them in the store, but fiddled & wore them around.... still unsure. Right toes felt cramped, left didn't (feet are same length). Then I tried my ions again. They felt... weird? Odd - maybe wearing a different boot for a while made their individual fit differences more striking. Then I pulled the DC liners to check/re-situate them in case anything was mashed out of the box... found two wads of loose material balled up in front of the right liner. Dafuq? Removed... night and day difference. That's what saved them from going back. After a little more fiddling, they feel pretty damn great. Really smooth uniform fit all around. The one thing is I need a little more heel bite, so probably going to order a couple more sets from tognar, but that's typical for me.

New boot model/brand is a little nerve racking after so many years on the same thing, but I gotta give these a try for the price I paid. The one bummer is if they break in to be softer than I like, I can't use my tongue stiffeners.

They are barely longer than an ion, probably not even half a size, but the heel/toe sole angles are harsh.. ions more slim/round. Pretty significant for a steep-angle carver, even with size 9s. If I'm keeping them, I'm shaving some of the rubber for sure. Also going to slice off the little nubs seen on the inner side toward the front - annoying going into my drives.

I’ve used lots of fitting foam from Tognar, ankle wrap that goes around the back and also the C shaped inserts also.

Exactly, boot fitting foam.

Ankle may have been a better term

My personal experience with DC boots is that they pretty much stay exactly like they are, and don't really break in much, if at all, in regards to stiffness.
