Check out my new...
Re: Check out my new...
Those are a special bidning. Anyone lucky enough to have a pair would likely never let them go.
a bit of taper, a lot of camber

New toys to play with the kids
The sub skate is not as long as others or as the Jones but maybe it will help me have a good time

Re: Check out my new...
i finally got out on my Hovland frankenskate (Ram subdeck/Buckshot topdeck) the other week. super firm corduroy, so setting an edge took some effort, but still had a pretty good time. softer snow conditions would definitely be beneficial, I think, especially for the times the edge slips out and you end up on the ground. it's currently setup slightly setback, i might move it back to be more centered, as it's already got a good taper to the subdeck. still figuring out all of the minute setup differences and how those affect the ride feel.
Re: Check out my new...
I've only ridden my Hovland a couple times a couple years ago but SUPER fun. Makes small mountains feel big. If I still lived in Minnesota, I'm not sure I'd ride anything else.
I've gotten much better at skating since last time I rode it, so curious to put it through paces again. I'll probably be riding mine more as I get back on snow with the kids. @Parker was telling me they were great while getting his girls on slope.

Re: Check out my new...
that was my plan for using it, too, as I've got a couple nieces/nephews getting on the slopes, but they all picked it up pretty quickly, so it never came out much.
Re: Check out my new...
In my case there is that great moment when the resort closes and you are left on the lower part with the kids. But who knows…coleslawed wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 5:59 pm that was my plan for using it, too, as I've got a couple nieces/nephews getting on the slopes, but they all picked it up pretty quickly, so it never came out much.
My lower skate is shorter than the Hovland (it’s an old skate that I bought cheap second hand)
So let's see if I can try it and come back with all the bones intact

Re: Check out my new...
First Arbor deck ever. Couldn't pass up that deal on the '25 Coda I posted in the deals thread. Thing is nearly full camber, which is a nice (unexpected) surprise.
158
256ww
1180ee
10mm taper
8.05 sidecut
0.54cm camber (Arbor has this on the spec sheet, kinda cool)
0 setback
Hand flex feels 6/10 to me. I got the 158 instead of the 159w because of the grip tech bumps, which claim to add another 2.25mm on each edge underfoot. We'll see how that translates on snow, but I'm stoked to try 'er out.
