So got a new first version of the 55 BC, and I like it. Nice replacement for my Greenest that has had a few accidents, also faster base and no excessive drag on front foot from the mag. Had a Jones Mercury on it, but that feels like overkill and I might give that away. Nitro Carver seems better for the heavier boards anyways. Thinking Burton Genemissionvita will fit nicely.

So.. gotta backtrack a little here. On hard conditions, that maggytrack is throwing off light turns some, gotta counterbalance to not go into a skid. I guess there's a place for bumps, and carving isn't it.

where's your stance at? i played around with mine a fair amount as i've experienced what you have. i used the inserts cannon does supposedly, and that made the board feel significantly more locked in on edge. i've since moved up my front foot a bit and have about 3 inches of setback on the board at a 22 inch wide stance, feels ideal now for what i want in a board. not the greatest board switch obviously, but it's not meant to be ridden switch much besides jumping and landing really.

min stance, cant really move it anywhere. not a big issue, as i dont need to set that board back for what its used for. can get used to it, but it does feel weirdish compared to a regular sidecut, like i gotta hold back to not overrotate. maybe it helps with spins, who knows.

fair enough. the sidecut and i were not friends for a bit because of this and it definitely felt strange. board really drives off the backfoot so definitely keep that in mind. i was over exaggerating my weight transfer between my feet when once realized this to really try and emphasize the back foot, and now i absolutely love it.

it's not like being on edge on my transition finder of course.

I have around 50 days on my Banked Country and would like to share my experience with the board.
First, IMHO this board should be ridden like any other board. Saying it wants to drive off the backfoot doesn't make sense to me. You just have more grip at the end of a turn if you are applying weight to your back foot.
When I am in bumpy terrain, moguls, rutted trees I finish my turn on my back foot and that is where this boards kicks ass. It has that extra grip when you are finishing your turn, and it sets you up nice for the next turn.
To me, my lines through tight terrain are a lot more fluid and precise with this board.
I just picked up a 158 Gremlin, I have 6 days on it and it may be a better board for tight and rutted terrain, but in open bowls the tight sidecut kinda sucks. The Gremlin is much softer torsionally.

sure yeah, not saying initiating turns with the backfoot or anything like that. i think the drive off the back foot comment is more so about how this board is extremely powerful at the apex of a turn and coming out of it like you've mentioned. you should be riding it like any other board, it just feels to me the input from the back foot is more pronounced than a normal sidecut if you will because of the mag, and why it gets the fins on a surfboard analogy.

Since sale time is coming up I really need to start looking for a daily driver to replace my Burton Flight Attendant and Deep Thinker and I am considering a Lib Rig. I live in the PNW and I've never owned anything Mervin, I feel like we have been getting a lot more firm snow over the past couple of seasons and I am Magnetraction curious. The slow bases always turned me off the Dynamo and I think the Banked Country will be too stiff for me when it comes to riding the steep and tight trees we have at my local, we also don't have the longest runs and things get tracked out quick so I don't need a lovely groomer carver.

• I prefer to "pedal" with my feet in the trees and value slow-speed maneuverability over high-speed stability

• I ride with skiers a lot and need to keep speed in the flats with frequent waxing will it be as fast as my Burtons

• Size 8.5 boot, 170lbs, 5'6" looking at the 156

• Even though I need the low-speed maneuverability I still like to straight line through choppy end of day snow

is the Rig for me?

I snagged the Rig this season and I like it. I'm 180lbs on the 159 and it feels very mid-flex to me. Mayyybe 6/10. The flex has this "smoothness" that makes it feel familiar and broken-in. It butters and pops well. In general, I don't like magne-traction but it seems to work on the Rig. Like it's there when you need it but not obtrusive otherwise. It had great edge hold on some icy night laps out here in NC. Surprisingly stable/damp in choppy stuff, too. The base needs routine wax, though, and just overall feels sluggish and low quality per (Mervin) usual.

I remember my old mullair sintered base, wasn't able to retain wax for more than 1.5 days, but after a base grind was as good as any other sintered base out there. No complains... to me, you just have to add the cost of a base grind, but only just in case it doesn't satisfy you

Darkside have several lib rig demo boards at a sale price. I've bought a demo from them before and it was practically new. Ymmv.

I don't know that the banked country is stiffer than the flight attendant or deep thinker. It's not a super stiff board at all, maybe a 7, but it's also going to have a different flex/core profile than anything Burton.

Rig is probably a good choice
