Heel edge right inline with the front inserts.
I wish you the best, but I’m saying without you being an experienced tech, and already putting in the wrong epoxy and where it is, heel edge at inserts.

I would not anticipate or expect any repair to hold for long.

Doesn’t mean you might not luck out, but that spot is one of the absolute hardest to fix.
Fair enough. Definitely managing my expectations, but doesn't hurt to try. I have a new outsiders on order, but gonna ride this one into the ground (whenever that may be).

that’s pert near where i blew out my Kazu’s edge.

was able to put in new sections of edge, base, and even a little piece of poplar for sidewall, which held for a couple of months, but now it’s a wall hanger.

wish I had photos of the completed repair still, but I just have the initial carnage and the final state after the edge gave out again.

looking back, i’d probably try to use a little p-tex to fill in the gaps around the new base material rather than an excess of epoxy.
midwest is best

@pow_hnd Dumb Question of the Day tm: If you put a base grind on a board with the Phantom treatment, does it remove the Phantom goodness?

No, totally fine.

in their testing the chemical reaction that is caused by Phantom propagates almost all the way through the full P-tex.

I think in their testing they did 10 base grinds on a test ski and the base was still testing positive for the Phantom.

I'm going to need to see independent test results to believe that one.

It’s out there somewhere I just can’t remember where. I’ll say this, DPS didn’t really make Phantom, it was developed at the University of Utah here in SLC “in cooperation”

The chemical engineer people involved at the UofU, I highly doubt they made any results up.
