Tom can be as salty as he wants, doesn’t change the fact that Pierre said “OK” to selling to the Nidecker bro’s.
eS never seemed to make a big splash after their revival, etnie’s still feels pretty Mall-Core and never had a massive team, just a few big names, Emerica always felt the most “core” of the three, but losing Reynolds a few years back lost them a good bit of shine in my estimation.
seems like Sole Tech overall may have been struggling.

Can remember Etnies being high fashion back in high school, not skateboard related. I was back and forth between Globe and eS. Tried the Emerica Reynolds, but didn't get along with them.

They really just said fuck it this is good enough for strapped bindings, step on will never take off to the point of replacing strapped, it’s just not desirable asides to Jerry’s, it’s the modern day k2 clickers but those clickers without the hiback really were something

They’re direction and focus became quite clear to me when in the same year they introduced SO Split they axed the Malavitas and have not replaced them.

If you go back and listen to Don Brown's interview on The Nine Club he said that Nidecker Group came in and paid off all Sole Tech's debt and essentially saved their asses. Also Asta just put out a vid where he stated Pierre owed him royalty money couldn't pay him. So sounds like the skate teams were doomed either way. It will be interesting to see how 32 evolves in the future under NGroup, so far it seems they have been doing right by that team.

*side note, I think Tom Asta would be a great fit on NB#, I hope he lands on his feet, dood rips*

not gonna lie, I don’t see any major shoe company picking up Asta. skating is so saturated and I’m surprised he has had sponsors this long - not that he’s undeserving, just the way it is.

I’m kind of into skating and have never even heard of the guy. Theres a million good skaters now. Comp jocks don’t move product.

I do love that we are talking about skateboarding in this thread instead of step ons tho.
