Would you name some examples? What’s the go to board/binding/boot outside of button?

No. There’s a plethora of information everywhere on this site, along with every other corner of the internet. Go to shops and talk to the dudes there. I’m not gonna type out a book with my thumbs.

I rode Burton products exclusively for a bunch of years and bought the KoolAid just like you. Once I started riding products from different brands, I found what felt was missing. Branch out. To pigeonhole your options to a Custom X and an old Antler is silly. There are literally hundreds of other boards out there that aren’t ever gonna be on your radar because you have an “EST Optimized” boot/binding setup.

Rome Katana Bindings, Public Dispute/Rome Ravine Select Vans High Country/Hellbound boot. Youre missing out on so much if youre really biting into Burtons marketing and staying completely in their ecosystem. It makes me kind of sad. The Custom X is a boring snowboard. Live a little

That’s a good point thank you I think I will just skip it since you’re making a great point
I am pretty dead set the custom x will be my next board the only thing that irks me is the stance setback on it as I ride switch half time
Sticking with Burton for the time being since I have EST bindings and EST sole optimized boots so it all works well together.. I also love the tweak ability of the channel to a T
the stance isn't really "setback" at all on the Custom X, you're still centered on the sidecut, the nose is just .5" longer after the kick for more float. the only difference riding switch is however much that extra swing weight is.

if you want to stay locked into EST, check out any of the Endeavor or Signal boards that are built with it to venture out a little bit.
midwest is best

Without trying to come across as an hater, every Burton hardgoods product I’ve ridden in the last four years could be described as “boring.” Whenever I’ve been on a B deck, I found myself wishing I was riding something else.

I bought the Michi 161 this year. I literally switched out after two runs. It’ll be a wall hanger for now.

Did you try the Gril Master? That's the that I hear a lot of praise on from non-Burton fanboys.

I am in the “want to step out of Burton” camp but love my Burton EST bindings. I think an Endeavor Archetype may be a great board for me to scratch that itch.

I didn’t hate the GrilMaster. It was fine. The nose was a bit too floppy for my liking but I can see why someone would enjoy it. Newer tech in a shape reminiscent of earlier days.

It's pretty mind numbing how aggressive his fanboys defend him when any questions are brought up about his reviews and/or riding (the lack thereof). Even his og sidekick Kevin (Nivek on SBF) argued on SBF (last year, iirc?) that Avran simply "doesn't have time" to film with how many boards he has to go through. "Logistically not worth his time" 😒.
Makes perfect sense in context of the norm of para-social, cult of personality maladjusted slubs of today. Whether it's Rogan or Huberman or Elon or Mr Beast or Beyonce or XYZ politician, depressing percentage of the population will simp for their guy/gal/side without a whole lot of critical thought.

And yah Angry SUCKS on multiple fronts. I'm so glad snowboard YouTube has levelled up so dramatically in past few years. Used to be Angry, schlubby kook influencers, and boring vlogs-- Bomb Hole, Tribute Board Lounge, Justaride, and even Malcolm Moore have improved the scene so much.

Totally agree. There has been a huge improvement in content over the last few seasons.

One that I never really liked was snowboard procamp. Still don't love it, but a friend sent me a link to 3 or 4 videos that he did in India and they were actually really interesting. Never seen anything like that before outside of random travel video parts. If you can get past the fact that he shills for anyone who pays his way, those were actually worth watching just for the change of scenery. I guess I can't totally blame him for what he does... he's traveling the world riding 12 months a year and someone seems to be paying him to do it.
