Built at nidecker (?) factory in Tunisia, same as old Jones I guess. Similar business model as Korua with rollover design, but with high prices instead of low. Seems like reasonable shapes. They have been working with some good riders, so should be ok. Seen enough, haven't tried, never really been interested.

I tried the swallowtail one last season. The MTI 542. It was chopped pow and I couldn't make a judgement on the ride, but the guy I switched with preferred the Dupraz I was riding. He later broke one of the tails on a hard backseat turn in a banked slalom. They look nice, but for the price I think I'd get a United Shapes before a Fjell.

Split skiing takes a sec, but it’s not too hard on mellow downhills. I just always step out into the deepest pow and angle myself right and seem to make do. These days I’m more likely to get out of my “skis” only if it’s stupid steep and very short and I can’t possibly side step it.

I’d also say that I’m lucky in the Wasatch. Pretty much everything here is straight fucking up. Out of say 30 days splitting a season, I split ski maybe 4 or 5 times. We just don’t have much in the way of undulating terrain, and when you’re on a ridge it’s all pretty mellow because the ridge is very consistent in altitude, any ones that aren’t consistent you’re usually boot packing.

I split a lot in new england, I've done half of David Goodman's 50 list... and it's lots of rolling terrain... even though I skied a ton growing up, still a pain with soft boots, but at least my karakorams have heel lockers built in

my touring partner practiced skiing down on his splits at his local hilll (mohawk mountain CT, ~elevation 1600') and got pretty proficient at it, it's a hilariously fun option if you get bored

The split telemark turns that our avy class instructor was doing were pretty damn impressive.
