A Thread For Goggles

Anyone ever used adhesive to hold goggle foam together? Looking for something that will hold up to cold temps, not melt the frame plastic, and hopefully not make this worse.

These are 6 years old. Both these and the other set of frames I have have a few small delams like this in the corner. Can probably get through the season, but I'm hoping I can keep them a little longer. Smith doesn't make the IO7 any more, they fit my face fantastic, VERY few goggle fit my face well, and I have like 6 replacement lenses waiting in the wings lol.

Might be the universe telling me to buy Anons lol. I finally tracked down some low-bridge ("Asian fit") Anons and they seem to sit on my face pretty well.

I feel like some sort of craft/felt glue would be best. As a fellow Asian dude, anon low bridge goggles are the shit.

I’d suggest trying some double-sided tape in there. The kind you get for laying carpet is super strong. Then you don’t have some liquid or gel glue soaking into the foam.

You could try liquid neoprene. It is a mixed adhesive that we use to glue surf wetsuits. Since it is liquid it adapts. This problem has happened to me with several goggles

A little bit of Shoe goo on a toothpick. This way you can go to where it’s not separated, smear both sides.

Random, but one of my best friends, who was on the airgoggle train with us for years, recently picked up a pair of regular squads after knowing how much I love my XLs (and all his AB lenses are long blown-out). I prefer a modern medium size, nothing huge, but they are a bit small by today's standards. I was surprised by how much I liked the fit and size.

One thing I notice with the XL, perhaps with the increased height, is they can gather more sweat vapor when I hike. Wondering if the regular squad, which doesn't cover as much of the forehead, would avoid that a bit. Anybody have experience with both, in regards to that general scenario?

I also don't like the recess in the nose bridge of the XL, although it's easy to overcome by adding a little bit of weatherstripping foam, shaped to fit properly. Perhaps I should borrow his for a day.

Wish I could help, but just chiming in that I like the regular squad size a lot too. I use the Squad MTB version for bike park/downhill in the summer and the fit is ideal. Those have no foam on the top and have vented lenses though..

Are the Squad mags in between the regular and XL size wise?

Just the conversation I need right now as I’m after some new goggles. Word on the hill is that Smith lenses are the best with Giro a close second. Both can be had quite cheap with an extra lens. I favour a large medium that is close to the face, so its Squad, Squad XL or Giro Method. I like the wider FOV of a larger goggle but they are often too tall and press on the nose or go too high up on the forehead.
