He's super good people. When I got divorced from the first wife, I had to take a year off because of $$$ from the divorce. I had been going every year since it was planes, train and automobiles. He reached out and asked why I wasn't on the books. Told him the divorce was fucking me $$$ wise. He told me not to worry about it and to call the office and talk to Mo and get on the books and that we would figure out the $$$ later. Pretty much no other cat/heli op would do that. He's a solid dude.

I kinda tend to agree with his hot take on Japow…. Most of the terrain is pretty uninspiring, save a few resorts. Although, in this new COVID world, I highly doubt that Japan will ever reopen to unvaccinated people, so some of the best resorts may not be as crowded.. So that could make it a bit more appealing… My wife works in corporate for Delta so we do fly for free..

Perfectly shows the level of personal interest that came across in his bombhole ep. What a legend.

I haven't watched Jeff's episode yet (thanks for reminder), but I can tell just off this excerpt that I'll agree. Snow quality in Japan is awesome, in-bounds terrain in Japan is broadly meh. I've seen a few spicy backcountry clips-- see T. Rice's magical spine line in Japanese Alps line a few years ago --but caption of that same video says finding that spot took him weeks of scouting and following around locals.

Japan is dope for culture stuff and FOOD. For riding... I'd rather go elsewhere unless I'm posted out that way for a while and can explore the backcountry. I've done 3 trips in Japan (Niseko, Hakuba, and Tenjindaira) because I can piggyback it on work travel, but if I have to pay my own way, I'd much rather go to BC, SLC, Bachelor, Mammoth, Wyoming, or the European Alps. Probably can add Montana or South America to that list, but I haven't been yet to confirm. Probably only SLC can match Japow for consistent snow quality, but all of those have muuuuuuuch better terrain options than anywhere I've yet ridden in Japan.

Also someone take this spot. Can confirm the crew is dope, everyone is a ripper, and Baldface is amazing. I went with this crew last year and it was incredible.
