Whistler

Post by scrub »

Has anyone been to Whistler lately? We've all been staying down here in WA since our bit of the Cascades has had decent snow but I'm heading up there in a couple of weeks for my birthday and a day with Powder Mountain Cat Skiing and I have my fingers and toes crossed!

Was there at xmas and it was very low tide... managed to get a solid day and a decent day in the end though in the alpine. Powder Mountain was not open and we actually had our cat days fully refunded. Looks like the snow is hitting now, was sitting in VT watching Whistler get hammered last week, and the forecast for the coming week is looking great, hope you score! Trying to get back there end of the month, fingers crossed.

I'll be riding there next week. Will report back, but it seems conditions have really improved over the last week or so, and more snow is likely this weekend.

I don't know if anyone here still remembers Zoe, but she still lives there, and conditions have looked really good this week. She just sent me photos from the gondola on a bluebird day, and snow looks nice. Looks like they have struggled with some pretty brutal conditions at times, but some good days throughout.

She gets here in a week, for two weeks. Hopefully she'll be 3 for 3... her first two trips were during really great conditions.

Did you get the visa stuff sorted? We are riding the resort Friday and Saturday then leaving Sunday so it looks like we will miss some snow.

Yes, my new travel authorization came through a couple of days ago, so Whistler is back on :D And yeah, looking at the forecast, seems like I'll get some good conditions next week!

If you haven't been to the resort, or are not riding with anyone local / experienced, these maps are a decent place to start:

https://www.ullrmaps.com/

Not sure if he is still up and running them but they can be a helpful resource for sidecountry stuff.

I basically grew up there, any questions feel free to shoot me a DM.

Thanks, I’ve been up here a bunch, the 2 days we are riding the resort is with the family so mostly groomer cruising.

Pretty excited for tomorrow’s cat trip!
