The Official Burton Thread

Anyone got any unique Burton gear they LOVE? I'm set on both hard and soft goods, but I'm sitting on a good chunk of warranty credit.

Offhand nothing in the board line speaks to me. I liked the Cartel X I demoed, but not enough to add non-NOW/Jones bindings. Might pick up some straps / ratchets to upgrade those NOW/Jones bindings.

I'll probably pick up a Riglet setup for the near-toddler, she should be stable upright by end of season.

For the rest, torn between:
  • Sitting on it until I need new gear-- while inflation slowly eats away at it and I potentially forget about it lol
  • Picking up a crap ton of practical basics (base layers, socks, snowboard tool, etc.)
  • Spending it frivolously on something like a Mystery deck or Step-On Split bindings lmao.

I still have a big metal uninc pig board stand from about 15 years ago, and Romain's personal uninc kitty from when they were filming optimistic in AK, signed. Not really what you were asking, but pretty stoked about those.

Nothing unique I can think of but, AK gear in general. Ran the AK Velocity for years, now have the Banshey for days when it dumps. Baselayers are great. AK Tech Mitten is always my go to 95% of the time. Cyclic bibs have been awesome the past few seasons, just got a new pair to size up. Dispatcher bag is beefy, it’s pretty split oriented but it’s been nice for traveling/camping.

Used to be a big burton board guy but after riding other brands lately.. I don’t know what it is, but I don’t have a strong desire anymore. I’ve always found them very damp, but sometimes they feel a little lifeless(?) - maybe it’s just that I’ve found other boards I like more. Either way, I’ve liked all of the FT boards I’ve ridden aside from the Fishcuit with the pad, but that was my own fault. That said, there’s a few boards I still lust over and seek out.

Anon makes a good goggle, I don’t think there’s any arguing that. MFI with the AK Polartec hooded base layer goes with me everywhere unless it’s too warm.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ooh, good call. Anons are worth a look. I've been coveting the magnetic lenses + MFI integrated facemasks for a few years. Biggest thing keeping me from pulling the trigger is standard fits don't work for me, and I've never handled Asian-fit in person to see if it fits.

I don't think I've owned a Burton board since the classic 2008 baby animal Uninc. Most every board I've been interested in is too narrow or too tight a sidecut. The only deck that's caught my eye in years is the Leader Board, and that's probably too gnarly for me except on days I'm looking to go hard.

AK stuff is solid, best core snowboarding outerwear out there, although not quite on the level of some comparably priced premium brands (Arc'teryx + Norrona mostly come to mind). I have a Cyclic I haven't used yet, they redid the fit a few years ago and it is pretty spot on right now. I was on AK bottoms but switched to the 686 Dispatch last year. I blew out the seat on about 5 separate pairs of AK pants or bibs in ~10 seasons and gave up lol.

Yeah, I find the AK fit has become more relaxed/roomier in the last few winters @kimchi

AK Leather Tech gloves, for sure. I'm due for a new pair and digging the look of the cuff on the new version. my last two pairs have lasted about five seasons each, which is a lifetime for gloves in the midwest.

also, don't know if you've tried out any of the M-series goggles, but I love my Sync's and am a mega-fan of MFI. the Tech Balaclava is my go-to headpiece.

If I remember correctly they are a bit more snug than Smith’s Asian fit. I don’t have any other brands to compare to that have a low bridge option unfortunately

Some oversized freebird bibs are good, love them in the spring/summer. Also park gloves/mitts. The thin socks seem to be quality. Bough an Elite board with X bindings on sale, haven’t tried yet.. Prices now though 🤑
