Blue Bird snowboards

Post by Msteff »

Any info on the boards made by Willie and the blue bird crew? I.e. who presses them and what the sidecuts are in general e.g.tight or open?

uhhhhhhh......what? IIRC that company was planned to launch back in like 2011 as a wax manufacturer, and Ive never even seen a picture of their boards. Pretty sure they no longer make wax. I checked their website, and its doing some stupid hypebeast culture thing where you can't even browse the site until the merch drop in fall. They announced their store was open in Feb, its now barely past mid-march and its closed up again. Honestly, IMO, fuck em. Drop culture is cancer and their boards look like boring budget sticks. Probably made at GP87 or something. The screenshot is from their facebook.

So you don't really know what you're talking about. Willie is a stallward of the snowboard community. The boards are pressed by Never Summer and/or Smokin. They've been around way longer than 2011. Willie does the narration for NST and all of Travis' projects. And actually Willie opens his store when he has product, it sells out incredibly quick, then he closes it up again, instead of having it up just full of "out of stock" items...

You can be a staple of the community and also do some whack shit. Drop culture should just stop. Just because I like Kevin and Willie doesn't mean I like what they're doing with their brand. They might make some solid stuff, and I do like their stickers, I just cannot care because of the business model. I am not going to be checking my feeds so I can get the chance to purchase something. Their boards do look boring, and being made at GP87 would have been a plus. I live near the NS factory and I am not impressed.

Well, you won't be missed by them... So I guess it's a win-win.

Might as well see myself out if having opinions about business models means I dont know what Im talking about. If people want me to support them they can make it so its not my job to figure out when I can do that.

Oh no, feel free to express your opinions, but you said they're model is dumb and you dislike it, and it seems to be working for Willie just fine, so as I said it seems to be a win-win.

You don't like it or how they operate, and they like how they operate.

There's no harm in you not liking it, and there's no harm in the way Willie is running it.

So win-win.

They make wax for the winter and chill during the summer. If theres nothing to sell theres nothing to sell. It's not some sort of grand hypebeast conspiracy. If you want the wax you can easily buy some in the fall and the first part of the season until they run out. Follow them on instagram if figuring out how to type an email address in is too hard.

Kids these days.
