Vans are super nice for me as i can get away with a full size down and swap the popcush with Remind Medics and i dont have to tinker with anything from there.Msteff wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 11:06 amAgreed. I run vans boots with my custom insoles and can always size down b/c of how crazy thick the pop cushion is insoles are.kimchi wrote: Thu Mar 27, 2025 4:12 pmVan's Pop Cush insoles are INSANE. I get the desire to avoid heel bruises, but holy crap.Blessed420 wrote: Thu Mar 27, 2025 5:42 am Biggest problems with vans boot is that you cannot really fit custom insoles in them as the original ones are really thick on the heel.
I went down a full size from my typical skate shoe with Vans Slip-Ons. I wonder if I could do the same with Vans boots, but I've never had my insoles handy when coming across a pair.

Re: The boot thread
i tried to put a pair of Medic’s in my Deeluxe areth Rin boots, but the they were way too thick compared to the stock Deeluxe insoles. maybe i just ended up with the thickest version(they were rep freebies), but they seemed about as thick as Vans Popcush.
are you sizing down in standard Vans Slip-on, or Pros? the Pros will come with a similar Popcush as the snow line, and take up more space than the standard “skate” insoles.

I have remind insoles in my Areth Rin boots, the medic. I think they are 5.5 MM and no problems at all. The stock insoles from Deeluxe are thin like paper, they are not worth itcoleslawed wrote: Sat Mar 29, 2025 7:16 am i tried to put a pair of Medic’s in my Deeluxe areth Rin boots, but the they were way too thick compared to the stock Deeluxe insoles. maybe i just ended up with the thickest version(they were rep freebies), but they seemed about as thick as Vans Popcush.

Re: The boot thread
I’ve currently got the Vans dk one off’s with Adidas gold liners and foot print insoles and they feel great, but that big rubber/plastic toe box is quite cold. My DIY solution is to wrap the interior toe box of the shell with reflective heat tape (the stuff they use on HVAC and car engines to reflect heat away from sensitive spots). The thought is that the heat of my foot while in the boot will be reflected back from the tape rather than being lost to the shell toe. The tape was cheap (like $10) and is readily available and big box automotive and hardware stores. I’ll prepare the fix during the week. I’ve got a three day riding trip next weekend and I’ll let you all know how it goes.

I stopped wearing skate shoes unless im skating like 5 years ago when i realized how terrible they are on your bodycoleslawed wrote: Sat Mar 29, 2025 7:16 am i tried to put a pair of Medic’s in my Deeluxe areth Rin boots, but the they were way too thick compared to the stock Deeluxe insoles. maybe i just ended up with the thickest version(they were rep freebies), but they seemed about as thick as Vans Popcush.

I just picked up a pair of these and had the chance to ride them today. Do you have heel lift issues? I had a hard time getting them tight enough to feel like my ankle/heel was secure enough and not moving around. They felt fine around the house and work OK on the mountain, I just get a bit of foot pain while on long traverses.pow_hnd wrote: Mon Mar 24, 2025 10:28 amI went deep when they quit making the T-Rice DC boot.eleveneightnate wrote: Sat Mar 22, 2025 4:17 pmI wish I had done that!unsuspected wrote: Sat Mar 22, 2025 3:37 pm

I don't, but I get all my boots custom boot fit and custom insoles.RadDad801 wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 3:39 pmI just picked up a pair of these and had the chance to ride them today. After these mods, they fit perfectly. When I break out a new set of boots the boot fitters just copy the liners and a slip the insoles into the new boots.
FWIW, no matter what boot I have, I always have to get boot fitting done, but these take to boot fitting better than any boot I've ever had and the liners are by far the most comfortable.

Oh wow, that’s a lot of modification. I may have to look into that. The boots work for the most part, I just feel like I need to take up some volume around the ankle and pad out one of the Boa guides as it is tight over my ankle bone. I do have some Superfeet insoles, but nothing like full custom.

What do you think about the Skylab? I read somewhere it could be quite soft. But it should be wider, which is why I'm interested and also has some split features, although not as much as the Incline (which is too narrow). But is it wide around the ankle as well or only forefoot?Kevington wrote: Tue Feb 25, 2025 6:51 am Someone was looking for Nitro lace boots in Europe.
This place has the Venture Pro lace in two colours and lots of sizes at a good price:

I just tried on the Team and the Skylab in a few sizes. There was a big jump from the 9.5 to the 10. Felt like they use the same shell for the full and half sizes. Something to consider if ordering online. I'm usually a 9.5 but they were far too short, 10 was too big.
Sorry for all the questions, but it's hard to find these boots to try out.
