The boot thread
Re: The boot thread
I've seen and considered those Patriot sleeves before. I think they'd be fine as a first pass if you don't want to fuck about too much and have a relatively simple. It's pretty idiot-proof, which is great because most people don't want to get too complicated (no shade at this, I don't overcomplicate shit in 95% of my life and just want simple solutions).
If you really care about boot fit and are a reasonably high performance rider, you should probably just DIY it yourself OR consult with bootfitters so you can figure out how much you can DIY and how much you can't.

long look at the Union boot
Re: The boot thread
Anyone got any info on the T.Rice Pro Model Union Boots? He shows them off during the Natural Selection Snowboard Day 1 - Revelstoke at about 21:29;
Didn't see them in the 25/26 Union catalog; they just only have the Reset Pro boot.

Re: The boot thread
Anyone know anything yet about some backcountry/splitboarding specific prototype boots Deeluxe seem to have out for testing with their riders/testers? Saw one guy in Europe post a pic which quickly disappeared, and had a sponsored rider here obliquely confirm something's being tested… Didn't look like the Spark Fusions they just released this past season either.
Re: The boot thread
Yes, obviously shipping is available in my area and have in fact ordered boot fitting foam, etc. from Tognar in the past. Also have watched many of Lars' videos (including the one you posted). I was simply pointing out that shop accessibility isn't as readily available to everyone for those that keep preaching that nothing beats buying boots and getting a proper fitting at a reputable shop (no argument there), but it's speaking from an idealists perspective. Sometimes you have to make due with the solutions available to you. This (the patriot sleeve) could be one of them for those that may need some minor tweaking.Msteff wrote: Thu Mar 20, 2025 2:08 pmhttps://www.tognar.com/ski-and-snowboar ... UYAqHGdEsTjbrorbs wrote: Thu Mar 20, 2025 10:35 amI totally get that, but you're speaking from a perpective of someone that likely lives in an area where this is a readily accessible option. For those of us that aren't quite as fortunate and would have to travel or plan ahead for a "boot fitting day" to be a part of their snowboard trip, sometimes you have to make due with DIY options or things of this nature.pow_hnd wrote: Thu Mar 20, 2025 9:53 am
They could work or help, but these used to exist on the market back in the 90s and went away.
Not a substitute for going to a shop and getting some proper boot fitting done to eliminate your heel lift.
If I want to purchase anything locally my options are limited to low end Burton boots, Step ons, or Thirtytwo. Forget finding aftermarket insoles, boot fitting foam, etc. I'm SOL unless I buy online or on the rare occassion I make it to somewhere that has a reputable shop.
Assuming you can get shipping in your location, tognar has all of the boot fitting material you would ever need on its site.
Lars with the justaride channel also has a very good video of how to use the boot fitting material to DIY your boots

Still liking the Kita Hybrids?Kevington wrote: Sun Feb 16, 2025 1:22 pm First day on the Nidecker Kita Hybrid. Retired my Ride Fuse which finally gave up the ghost after at least 100 days and multiple tongue reattachment surgeries.
The Kita has the same set up: wrap liner, no internal harness, side boa that pulls the tongue in, trad laces.
I had a bad experience with the Nidecker Rift exploding on me after 20 days but I successfully warrantied them. The Kita were half price so I thought I’d give them a try. I’ve never had a boot fit my foot so well. Not even close. The asymmetrical tongue is just so good. It’s a mystery to me why anyone would make a boot with the tongue running straight down the middle as I’ve never seen a foot that is not highest on the inside. I removed some chunky BOA cable hardware from inside the liner as it was pressing hard on my ankles.
They are stiff, like 9/10 but if they break in to be 7/10 or so I’ll be very happy. Looks like they will be out of the line next year and be replaced by some mad thing with a binding strap round the shin. A victim of the BOA wars. I might grab a back up pair while they still exist.
My Burton Biolight pants from the mid nineties worked great today too.

I am currently looking at Kita and Rift APX at least. I know it comes down mostly to the stiffness. I have currently Adidas Acerra (and had Tactical Lexicon for park) and previously had Burton Ion for example that I liked. Acerra and Ion have been good for all mountain and more freeride stuff. I was almost set on the Rift APX but I am hesitant those might be too soft. Ideally I’d have both I guess

Re: The boot thread
Did you see my first impressions of the Rift APX by any chance? Page 86 I believe. Mine actually aren't that soft at all, I'd put them between my Tacticals and Acerras on the flex scale. I haven't ridden them yet, though, and have no clue how long that will last before breaking in softer. Either way, they're super high quality and overbuilt, plus the fit is on point.Tubermeister wrote: Sat Mar 22, 2025 10:47 am Still liking the Kita Hyvrids?

Thanks! Those do really look good and I might just try them. After reading little bit more about the Kitas I feel those might be too stiff.eleveneightnate wrote: Sat Mar 22, 2025 11:04 amDid you see my first impressions of the Rift APX by any chance?
