i don't recall anyone stating FASE performs better than regular 2 straps, apart from the convenience and ease.

Look Iā€™ll demo them at test fest on a gilson
a stretch to align gilson with rome, bataleon and jones.
yer right, gilsons are made in the USA and the rest are made in the middle of a fucking desert

(I love Rome bindings. Please leave the 390/DOD/Cleaver alone)

Iā€™m down to derail this thread. Echoing c. fuzzy I think itā€™s cool mr. partridge is here. sorry if I was a little aggro on your binding baby, I just like being annoying

I like the channel. I donā€™t have any beef with it. How ever many years later, do you prefer inserts or channel?

This is the cover page drawing for that patent...

Soooooo putting it all together, he's defending his baby again random shit-talkers on the internet lol.

Fair play. I remain skeptical, but I'll try it.
I think its quite an honor to have Mr. Partridge in the discussion here. I hope he'll chime in on more than just fase.
be glad to. am also the innovator of the channel and offset core, if there are any queries.
Interesting.

1. I've grown to be a channel fan (Not necessarily a burton fan though). Can you speak to the adoption or lack thereof and how you see the channel, now, some decade plus later?

2. Offset core? Am I dumb for that not being a familiar term?

I am not a fan of the single channel or the alloy construction (not a go at burton). i have built a channel system (which was always my goal) in which the rider can have 2 presets. one for powder and one for hardpack, that the rider can switch between on the fly. it is for the rider who wants a board they can ride powder in the morning and hardpack later when it gets tracked out, they can change their binding position instantly (toolless). but haven't found anyone willing to invest in it šŸ«„

first question i replied to above.

off-axis core is currently used by burton with their name dropper. the idea is the core profile matches the angle of the rider's boots (or thereabouts). not so applicable now, as most riders ride less extreme angles.

I'd say for the majority of buyers, the benefits of an automatic transmission outweigh the performance benefits of a manual, and they can skip the humiliating learning curve.
As I said, there are a bunch of strong points to step-on, I see it as a permanent part of snowboarding as of now moving forward. I also feel it will benefit snowboard as a whole.

Thankfully Donna saw fit to not make the mistake of 3D and Channel and not try to unify the industry around it by letting them use it. I mean they do allow Channel now, but hasn't always been the case and 3D they majorly fucked up on and she said as much on her Bomb Hole. Burton is doing it right this time.
i donā€™t know where the misconception of burton not allowing channel came from. rev snowboards in the mid 90ā€™s innovated the channel and patented it. from there forum adopted this technology. eventually burton brought forum, cancelling the channel on that brand, and eventually incorporating the channel in there own brand.
I'm well aware of the history of the channel, I worked in the industry for years, I have no misconceptions. When they first brought the channel to their lineup, at that time, they did not allow anyone else to use the tech. It was Burton exclusive. Then they did start allowing other brands to use it.

Their mistake, as Donna has talked about and others at Burton, was using tech, that was not industry unifying. 3D and the channel are not industry unifying is. 4x4, then eventually 4x2 is unifying. Everyone else uses it for 99% of the boards on the market that don't say Burton on them.

So this time around, Burton is being more proactive at letting others use the tech to unify the industry and brands around the same standards, i.e. Step-ons in both boots and bindings.

well, the person that told you no one else was allowed to use the technology must have been bullshitting as it was patented in the 90's, and the patent lapsed before burton got involved. unless there is some agreement i don't know about. please info me. mark fawcett told me he had to correct a rep who was telling shops that burton innovated the channel. as i see it, the only thing burton could have done is stop other brands from using the factory set-up that produced the channels boards for them. please correct me if you have real information to the contrary, not i just heard from someone. also you do realise the channel original work with 4X4 the disc.

Bataleon hasnā€™t been SWS since last year. Rome ā€˜26 will not be SWS.

I sincerely hope that 1. You are not suggesting thatā€Made in the USā€ automatically makes something superior 2. That gilson is anything but trash.
