The boot thread
Re: The boot thread
If I have one gripe about boas it's that when you loosen em up, the winder has recoil and kinda tightens the boot back up and I feel like I'm fighting it to get my foot out. One might say the boas were too constricting. *buh dum ching*
Call me Shirley but I just realized today I can loosen it all the way and then pop the boa back in and it stays all the way lose. *mind blown gif*
Maybe everyone already knew this, but I've been a speed lace guy for over a decade, and now idk what I'm going to hate on boas for. Gotta be something.
On an unrelated note, some folks round here be riding 20 year old boots that look deflated and wrinkled like granpas nutsack. I bet your favorite boots got a few more rides in them.

Re: The boot thread
Meanwhile, I did the opposite of @Kevington today, and got the Ride Insano instead of the Kita BOA.
Also tried on the K2 Thraxis, but I eliminated those pretty quick. The intel on them: roomy toe box, stiff AF, the liner harness holds you in exceptionally well (easy to overdo it, in fact). What I didn't like: the liner felt reaaaallyy thin. I almost wondered if it had been broken in, but Evo says they're completely new. I didn't like how that felt, at all. Also, construction looked a little iffy. Saw a few stitches on the shell that didn't look super well done. Not loose or anything, but foam sticking out of places I've never had foam be visible on a boot before.
So, about the Kita vs Insano.
Flex feels pretty similar, as in they're both quite stiff. They both feel comfortable, warm, well built. I am a size 10 in the Insanos, and 9.5 in the Kitas, but taking that into account, both fit similarly on my foot shape.
In the end, I had to try them twice each, and walk around with each pair for 20+ minutes, to decide on one. The big deciding factor was that the lacing on the Insanos seems more "thorough", and they feel like they tighten more uniformly, once you move in them for a bit.
Some might say "more points of failure for the cable", and that's a fair point, but I liked the feel better, in the end.
Another thing is that I wasn't loving the heel hold on the Kitas. Felt decent, but also like I might have had to add J-bars as they broke in. The Insanos hold my heels better.
Finally, a quality-of-life detail I liked is that the Insanos have a little tab on the tongue, which make tightening the liner easier than the regular "pull the cord and push the tab" system. Never had that before, and I'm liking it so far.
Overall, if I hadn't had a chance to try the Insanos, I'd have probably been happy with the Kitas, except for maybe the heel hold thing, but even that wasn't so bad that I'd say it was a deal breaker.
Gonna ride on the Insanos all week, and might come back with more impressions on them, once I've had a chance to try them a little more.
Wish me luck breaking them in. These things are stiff.

I found same boots from ebay for 200€, but I think Im ready to move on. I remember the instep pressure/pain when my boots where brand new and Im not going through that again.
Ordered Bataleon Acid boots in mondo 265, let's see if they fit.

Re: The boot thread
pert near perfect boot for me. only wish the internal harness was sewn in, and that the laces had a 3rd set of hook up top under the strap.
I do think they have gotten a bit stiffer since the first iteration. I moved the liners from my first pair into my second to try to even out the flex between the two. that liner also has a powerstrap, which I prefer, as well.
