The boot thread
Re: The boot thread
Considering trying intuition liners again, talking to Lars about what to go with, as he's a dealer.
It's still a bit funny to me that I'm using DC, but the transcend fits me super well & works great with my tweaks. Burton tongue stiffeners are a must for me in any boot (mostly for the energy & rebound they add), and the stock liners have lasted quite well, really. This is how I have them set up with tognar foam. General volume pad on each side, then the C pad for ankle bone. Small piece above back of heel to help keep it locked down. Also have been running a flat foam insole under the footbed for about 10 years, which takes up volume & improves tongue angle over instep. I can ride the new liners stock for maybe 1-2 days, and then I want all this - but it doesn't seem to change after that.
Not sure if I miss anything about ions anymore, overall.
Still really want to try k2 & ride, plus nidecker/bataleon.

Re: The boot thread
I run a similar set up as well, using the wrap around C shape on both liners
Re: The boot thread
The sorcery needed to make my boots fit right and not get heel lift.
The “break pad” on the tongue is a small miracle for stopping heel lift and the arching of your foot.

Re: The boot thread
I have the intuition wrap liner in my Ride Fuse and it’s by far the best (and longest lasting) liner I’ve ever had. I have a big panel of 6mm foam on the shin to take up volume. I’ve tried putting it in other boot shells and it adds 1-2/10 stiffness just by being more supportive foam than any other liner. And that’s a well used Intuition liner vs a new one from other brands. I would buy aftermarket intuition liners in a heartbeat if they were available in Europe. It’s one of those situations where a company just makes one thing so they do it extremely well. Like Hestra with gloves. Far, far better than anything else I’ve ever seen or used.

Intuition liners aren't avaible in Europe? I've searched for it but never found a store in Europe who sells them..Kevington wrote: Mon Dec 23, 2024 1:23 am I have the intuition wrap liner in my Ride Fuse and it’s by far the best (and longest lasting) liner I’ve ever had. Re: The boot thread
Remind had a version of this liner several years ago and then didn’t produce it for a number of years. I rode them for a while in a number of different boots and they were fine. High quality but I’ve got more of a v shaped foot with narrow heels and a wider forefoot. The reminds in my experience are more of a U shape and the heel didn’t give me as much hold as I would have liked without some mods.
Re: The boot thread
After some better research I Found a supplier in Belgium. I mailed them so now i'm waiting for a (positive) reply! Would be awesome if they have the Intuition liners in stockKevington wrote: Mon Dec 23, 2024 1:23 am I have the intuition wrap liner in my Ride Fuse and it’s by far the best (and longest lasting) liner I’ve ever had. Re: The boot thread
You guys think trad laces are a no go these days?
I used to ride laces but then I switched to speed zone and I kinda fell in love with it
I’ve tried various boa since but it just never did it for me, it always felt odd, maybe I haven’t found the right pair yet but this triple boa thing next year is gonna be even weirder
I wonder if union will bring in some nice trad lace boots with their entrance
As for boots, anyone have experience with the venture pro?
They come in lace and speed zone but I worry they will become mush too quickly, doesn’t seem to have the best reviews on their speed zone system
Side note, you guys use custom orthotics from a podiatrist?
Thanks for any input

Re: The boot thread
Well, in my intention to test step on, the Swath has finally arrived, after two months with the EST bindings, waiting at home, but this is not about step on but about heels, so after the initial party, when trying them, my fears become reality and we repeat the rule that in Burton boots, my heels rise, so I begin to analyze and here comes the interesting part…pow_hnd wrote: Sun Dec 22, 2024 9:35 pm The sorcery needed to make my boots fit right and not get heel lift.
The “break pad” on the tongue is a small miracle for stopping heel lift and the arching of your foot.
I have been studying with a friend for three months, what would be the best performance formula for these boots, and we came to the conclusion that it was more important to have two boas, (one above and one below) and generate ankle retention, not from behind, but from the front with a rigid plate, that is, with the plastic tabs that came in boots like the Driver from 25 years ago, so I searched in the drawer of memories and found two types of plastic tabs.
First I tried with “black” model that was the most modern and the reality is that the test at home did not work because it was like not putting anything, So I tried the “small” model which was older but I was surprised to find that this model works and by blocking the instep it helps to retain the heel, just like Vans does, with the internal boa.
The problem is that I only have one plastic tongue, since I lost the second piece probably 20 years ago so I'm going to develop another similar one in a 3D machine and I'll try with various formats and then I have to try it in the snow. I'll keep you posted because this might be a good solution for all those who have a boot they like but suffer from heel lift
Edit: then I put the infuse liner in the swath and the ankle no longer moves
