Autocant is just some higher plastic framing on one side of the footpad, the worst "tech" ever.

I thought Autocant was a softer foam on the instep vs harder on the outside of the footbed?

either way, nothing super advanced for tech, but it does make a difference. Union was doing similar things on the Contact Pros, but now most of their line has actual angled footbeds (one other thing I really enjoy about the Falcors).
midwest is best

I’ve never seen or heard this before. Unless you got a wonky set, they’ve been the way Cole described for a long time.

Yeah, my understanding was also what Cole detailed.

Also thought it was BS marketing until I felt a huge difference riding cartels vs vitas.

Oldhead wrote: Thu Oct 03, 2024 5:41 am I have been on Burton Cartels forever. I just picked up a set of 2024 Cartel X. One of the selling points for me was the heel hammock. Anybody have some experience with the durability of this? I assumed it was fixed to the highback, but the lower portion is floating until you boot pushes it into position. Lots of edges that look like they could get caught on the boot when entering the binder.
Been on Cartel X's since they were first released; so far no prominent durability issues that I can recall, at least.

Only wish they were just a tad more responsive, then they'd be my dream binding. Love the smooth roll from edge to edge that B bindings provide in general, though.

Pre-season snowboard brain that is jonesing has already moved on.... For now... to other things.

I think I just pulled the trigger on a Japow trip so bindings are on the back burner

benjinyc wrote: Tue Oct 01, 2024 2:19 pm I like that when I travel and carry a solid and split board, I only need one set of bindings. But even if I didn't split board, I'd use the freerangers/continuums... II get more out of the Free Ranger's split sidewall construction than I do with NOW skate tech or Salmon's shadowfit
Super interesting. I have been doing that with Sparks and the solid board pucks. But the feel to me is too far removed from 'regular' bindings for anything but burly freeride boards - the all-metal binding combined with the pucks just feels lacking flex and board feel (even the softer Spark Arc). My stiff full-carbon X EST bindings on the HTH feel like skateboard trucks in comparison.
