oyuki is def not japanese and was founded by aussies. evo eventually bought them out i believe? the brand name is cringe if youre a japanese speaker lol
Set up in/out of Niseko by some Ozzie founder(s) - the guy(s) from Rhytm Snowsports. So at least arguable whether that counts as Japanese or not...yukinori wrote: Mon Nov 04, 2024 5:08 pm oyuki is def not japanese and was founded by aussies. evo eventually bought them out i believe? the brand name is cringe if youre a japanese speaker lol
For those not familiar with the Japan scene:sunokeru wrote: Mon Nov 04, 2024 10:49 pmSet up in/out of Niseko by some Ozzie founder(s) - the guy(s) from Rhytm Snowsports. Initially pushed a throwback/purist/traditional leather glove design language trying to appeal to the (wannabe) surf/snowsurf/Gentem crowd. More recently they have been leaning into the faux-Japanese aesthetic a lot (think Weston Japow, Capita Kazu, etc), especially in their collabs.
Not sure whether Oyuki was part of the deal for Rhythm by Evo, but I suspect so.
Oyuki is not really cringe in Japanese, but more lame/meh. Actually in Japanese they use 攻めろ大雪 (attack or charge big/heavy snow) which is marginally better.
explain, this is new to me as an east coastersunokeru wrote: Mon Nov 04, 2024 10:49 pm trying to appeal to the (wannabe) surf/snowsurf/Gentem crowd.
Fit is very similar to Hover.mildly_high wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 12:54 pm Has anyone bought or tried on the Burton Acamar jacket, does it fit the same as a hover or a cyclic?
How would you compare the material to the hover goretex pro?pow_hnd wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 1:07 pmFit is very similar to Hover.mildly_high wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 12:54 pm Has anyone bought or tried on the Burton Acamar jacket, does it fit the same as a hover or a cyclic?
I would say it's very similar to the AK457 Guide jacket fabric, if you're familiar with that.mildly_high wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 1:42 pmHow would you compare the material to the hover goretex pro?pow_hnd wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 1:07 pmFit is very similar to Hover.mildly_high wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 12:54 pm Has anyone bought or tried on the Burton Acamar jacket, does it fit the same as a hover or a cyclic?
Would you say there was anything special about it or just a burton money grab?pow_hnd wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 2:38 pmI would say it's very similar to the AK457 Guide jacket fabric, if you're familiar with that.mildly_high wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 1:42 pmHow would you compare the material to the hover goretex pro?
I don’t know if I’d say there was anything particularly special about the jacket, but that doesn’t mean shit. Any jacket that is 3L Gore-Pro is gonna cost that much no matter who is selling it.mildly_high wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 5:12 pmWould you say there was anything special about it or just a burton money grab?pow_hnd wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 2:38 pmI would say it's very similar to the AK457 Guide jacket fabric, if you're familiar with that.mildly_high wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 1:42 pm
