The boot thread
Re: The boot thread
Northwave have revamped their line.
Big shoutout to @C.Fuzzy for reminding me they even exist. My first boots were Northwaves that looked like Sorels but came up almost to my knees, I guess that calf-bite trauma is buried so deep I pretended they didn't exist anymore.
The Decade and Decade Pro both look good and the prices are actually sensible. Got to love that they have their own version of BOA too so there's no need to add €50 per dial to the retail price. Similarly no Vibram soles.

Re: The boot thread
I remember realllllly wanting some Northwaves back in the day. the APX Project line were clean.
Re: The boot thread
I had 2 pair of the APX 5. Easily the best fitting boot I ever had for riding. Off the hill they made my feet almost claustrophobic. On the hill they were magic. Really the boot that made me realize how good a snowboard boot could be.coleslawed wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 10:51 am I remember realllllly wanting some Northwaves back in the day. the APX Project line were clean.
Since then ive been riding mostly Decades and Legend models. I think tight now I have the Domain sl. No matter what other brand I try they never seem to be as good as whatever Northwave I'm riding.
Often I'm downright surprised at how crapola some other brands are in comparison.
@Kevington
Imo their older speedlace system was perhaps even better. These look a bit tamed down to some of the past versions. But i also havent ridden these, so yeah.

Re: The boot thread
I had these in highschool. Doubt I've ever owned such a well made boot since then..
Re: The boot thread
Yup same here I went from a Burton moto to the APX5 in high school as well and it was like jumping ahead in time.

Re: The boot thread
I had Northwaves way back in the Kevin Jones days, no doubt that Italians know how to make footwear. These Decades are tempting, does anyone know how these fit say compared to a Burton boot?
I tend to need a boot with some room in the forefoot, the SLX in Burton US 9 fit me perfectly. I was an 8.5 in Addidas Tactical and these fit me perfectly too.

Re: The boot thread
The Northwaves are narrower, and more stable in the forefoot, heatmolding is a must if they are tight. And yeah, there's something about Italian boots, at least the highend models.
Re: The boot thread
Hmmm.. the decade lace do look nice!

Re: The boot thread
Honestly, I always give people a tip. Fuck the brand or model reference. The boot has to fit and have the stiffness you want. Because if a boot doesn't fit, no matter what, it's not going to be a good day. That just means try, try and try againSJF_NH wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 11:57 am I had Northwaves way back in the Kevin Jones days, no doubt that Italians know how to make footwear.
