The trendy parachute w/ cuff style is getting a bit extreme, but man I do miss the standard classic baggy cut of the 2000s.

i love my elastic cuffs. never have to worry about getting them out of the way of my straps/highbacks, or dragging in the dirt in the lot. don’t see myself going back to regular legs anytime soon.

I am looking for pants with elastic cuffs and hopefully no gaiters for many years already, hopefully this trend will grow big enough to be able to buy some even from Finland. Airblaster is not really available here and I found Volcom's Arthur Longo pants only at the end of last season, when my sizes was gone in Europe. Also some Burton was available for short moment, but again, I missed it.

Also putting GoreTex or similar membrane in all closes seems ridiculous at least looking from Finland, while most of the winter is cold and dry. I have Burton [ak] Helitack GORE jacket, witch is very warm and thin, but putting membrane in such jacket which cannot be worn in any wet conditions (too warm) is ridiculous waste of my money and natural resources.

I get it. This could actually just be a generational difference. Back in the stone age when I was young, elastic hems were the territory of the nylon tracksuit mall-walker grandmas going 'swoot swoot swoot' in bright energeticflocks past the food court, bugleboy parachute pants and pleated jeans and cheap sweats... the latter of which were out-of-date hand me downs foisted upon me and I have an ingrained inner recoil to this trend that others may not. It's perhaps not a surprise that the Skateboard culture rejected that vile aesthetic went the opposite way with baggy stove-pipe legged purple Blind jeans ... and the eventual Jnco era thereafter.

The pendulum swings back I guess. The above could probably be sold to the 'grandpa-core' aligned youth of today.

Is this a consumer driven trend? Or a cost cutting measure by brands that is marketed as a trend?

Part of me wants to wear some just for the dumbness of it. Like jester beanie, Polaris jacket and baggy cuffed missy Elliot pants

i have been sewing eastic cuffs on all my pants for years. i like that they stay out of the way when strapping in and stay down when bootpacking.

I’m prepared to accept that my embrace of the elastic cuff (although I’m claiming practicality) may actually be a sartorial symptom of a mid-life crisis.
