Captians log...
Re: Captians log...
Conditions are still pretty locked up, but while I was up there today, somebody mentioned GPS apps. Never done it before, but decided to see how fast I was going if I pointed it down the rest of the run we were on. It was easy to break 50, so then I started much earlier and tucked where I previously peaked. Seemed like I couldn't go any faster than 65 - was starting to feel wind resistance - but maybe tomorrow I'll ride the cheater and see if I can break 70. Nothing else to do right now. IDGAF about that stuff at all and don't know what's considered fast, but it made today fun, trying to beat your own numbers.
Re: Captians log...
I track my every move (Garmin watch, phone, etc…), and I've never once thought of checking my speed. Funny.
(Before you ask: I like having GPS tracks to look back to. They are like photographs for me, jogging my memory back to that activity, loading it up and I can step through my moments as I glance over the track on the map. I guess that's where "tracer" in my handle comes from. It's really hard for me otherwise to recall stuff. I always need a prompt…)

i track all my rides (bike & board) too. if i felt fast that day i’ll check my top speeds. usually around 40 at trollhaugen, have been closer to 50/60 up at our bigger resorts near Lake Superior.

I track all my bike rides religiously. For the trails I ride regularly racing your own times is a fun way to gamify things. Never even considered doing it for snowboarding, and could even use the same app to do it. 65 mph on a snowboard is goddamn fast. I'd be amazed if I've ever cracked 50.
Re: Captians log...
~50 seemed pretty easy, pointed down a moderate slope - I think you'd have no problem. The difference from there to 60+ wasn't super noticeable. Still stuck with hard groomers today, so we'll see if I can top it
Re: Captians log...
Little more choppy today, only got to 63 on the cheater, but feel like I can break it eventually. There's one other run I have in mind.
It was nice out. Buddy on his Phantom setup

Got up nort for the last weekend and got a bit of riding in. Conditions were all time weak with a crusty 6 to 12 inches of snow in a place that on average should get 200-300". Making me question if I'm over committed to this sport.
Got a couple runs in on the psychocandy, but not really enough to give a full rundown.
I'm more and more in love with my sickstick 151 as time goes by. It's been the board that I can forget I'm riding and just ride.

Day 20, finally got some real snow. Lapped with Rainery on a nearly empty mountain. Everything was on wind hold until almost noon, so all the take-the-morning-off folks had left for work.

No footage or photos from today, but if you ever get a chance to ride a Woodward Peace Park, just do it.

Somehow ended up supporting a little sortie for some Jones team members—Forrest Shearer and Harry Kearney—out for marketing photo shoot yesterday. They were focused on mellow "relatable" shots, so it was a mellow day. To their absolutely mind blowing luck, we had a bluebird day and they were in awe of the scenery and terrain here. Pretty sure when their shots get out, we're gonna have every snowboard brand's marketing department rubber-stamping visit requests…
