True.

The Vans ones look kind of half decent to be fair but I’ll still swap them out for my usual Sidas.

They are undoubtedly thick AF, same as Vans skate shoes. The heel pocket in the shell is deepest lower down and my heel bone protrudes relatively high so a lower footbed will align those two things better and should make more space lengthwise in the boot.
I have tried many insoles. I don't like Sidas. I have tried some heat-moldable ones but in the end some are very thick, others are weird and I don't like others. It is important to try because what you think is going to happen, sometimes is not the case. I like the 32 insoles and they are not especially good but i lile the feeling of my infuse boots with this insoles. I also like Footprint. I like insoles that they are minimalist but when you try some are good for you and others aren’t... Vans insoles are definitely thick and insensitive...

The Vans insole raises the heel because the boot is designed to be very flat and with that insole you get drop. If you use another insole you lose drop and you may not like it.

An anecdote is that I used 32 and footprint with Burton wedges and I had unbearable pressure points…

As mentioned before, that has not been my experience. The original insoles in my Vans Verse were pretty thin and floppy, about the same as the ones from my Burton Ions.
My burton slx insole 3mm and my vans insole 1cm and 3mm
Cannot really tell from your pictures where you are measuring but those are interesting numbers.

Also, those Vans insoles look very different from mine (Burton ones almost the same). I need to check whether I still have them somewhere.
I'm measuring before where the heel rests. I have to fold the sidewall to be able to measure. These vans are the same as the skate vans.

I love that somewhere in the deep recesses of the internet folks are breaking out their calipers and posting photos of the thickness of snowboard boot insoles.

I run the “nice” 32 insoles in my mountain bike shoes and super feet in the 32s.

Same experience here when I went from 32 JJ Focus to K2 Thraxis. I couldn't transfer the remind insoles over as they caused new issues I've never experienced before. Tried Sidas, sure foot, & other remind models. Currently have some bootdoc alpine custom, but I only rode maybe a total of 12 hours on them at Boyne in March. Verdict is still out till they're ridden on more technical terrain the next trip. For me I'm looking for the thinnest insole that is structurally strong enough to maintain my arches position with the BOAconda tech that does not raise my heel. Reminds were great with that, but they are too thick especially in the heel for my K2s. Might look into customs from a Dr.

Got me some leather TTs, damn nice fit. Hope they are durable too. And yes, I will fight careless skiers in the lift line.

nah, let them have some battle scars.

but i've never had a skier encroach close enough to damage a boot.

Pretty sure there's nothing that can happen in the lift line that's anywhere close to as bad as what I'm going to do to my gear in the name of fun.
