His dad was a total adrenaline junkie and founded Benihana.

Ah, so he performs at X-games and snowboards, well I guess that works.

Steve was part of the Gravis team way back so he’s been connected to Burton for quite a while

Genuine question: why do people dislike Aoki? I ain’t an EDM purists, alls I know about him is long hair, throws cakes into audiences, and dad founded Benihana. Is he an asshole or is it a Coldplay “sell out” mainstream thing?

rich kid, nepotism, party scene... I think the combination of those things and he gets the Paris Hilton treatment.

apparently he's supposed to be pretty nice and not sure if this is true but I read most of his money he earned on his own. I have no idea if he's a good dj, never listed to anything of his

As I understand many believe he's overrated (prerecorded sets and ghost produced songs), gimmicky (throwing cake) and didn't exactly earn it in the same way as others who don't come from privileged backgrounds (paris hilton-esc).

Others say they like his music, he's a top 10 dj, hard working and a great entertainer, and a nice guy that seems to do charitable things.

I think if you like him or not depends on what you personally value.

…and even if all the good things about him are true, not sure it warrants a pro signature model.

tbf, same apples to Sal Masekela too

I think the only signature board collabs they've done I was remotely interested in were with the shops (tribute, evo, wave rave etc)

I’ve got nothing against Aoki. He’s got a Netflix doc that was pretty good. He’s a total workhorse and has a lot of buddies in the skate/snow industry. Not sure if he warrants a signature snowboard, but one could say the same about any of the other artist collabs B has done over the years.
