Would think the Sole Tech deal has alot to do with the american market, Jones (administration) brand and street shoes. Bataleon boots is pretty much 1 model for men/women, with a more expensive option for dentists. Probably want to be able to supply a full package deal, and the Bataleon brand has a pretty good standing in the carpet/indoor areas of Europe.

A bit of an curiosity that Bataleon has enough brand clout to launch a boot line... eh

They don't which makes it weird.

You'd think the Nidecker group wouldn't try to cannibalize their other boot offerings, especially since they just bought Sole Tech.

Just because you can do something, doesn't always mean you should.

Far be it for me to say i guess, I don't know the sales. But that was my thought as well. I don't understand bataleons brand positioning.

The whole brand mergers they're doing are curious from my perspective, especially that the two brands that shared a board platform (bataleon and lobster) got separated, they basically shuttered lobster and merged with Yes and then flipped Yes from an all mtn brand with BC leaning (look at who the founders are) to a more park/freestyle oriented popsicle board brand. Are they doing Yes boots too?

Obviously Jones will take the all mtn BC brand flag. But... Jones doesn't resonate with me like Yes did.

I see Jones as the BC circlejerk brand. Yes was the Uninc core.

They threw away the spirit of Yes, and in the process kinda effed up Lobster which has brand awareness.... Just to keep Bataleon which has womp, kept nidecker which has womp womp, and double down on Jones which I get, but is kinda wack.

Obviously TGR stuff is usually insufferable but this was a pretty good insight into the boot.

As a lifelong laces guy I think I am ready to try some boas, the try on list for this fall:

• DC Transcend

• Ride The 92

• Bataleon Acid

• Vans Verse

Honestly, BOA is great, as long as you stay in double zone or more. And they're not even hard to repair these days. Still more involved and time-consuming than replacing a lace, but the failure rate of BOAs is very low nowadays.

Been riding double BOA for 4 years now, and my boots have failed in other spots, but not in the BOA itself. And I'm one of those people who likes their boots really tight when they're riding, but has to undo them for breaks and sometimes during long lift rides, so BOA really makes that easy.

Snowboard boots are hugely overpriced in general. They last a maximum of 100 days. I get it that that is 10 seasons for a lot of people but it’s still crazy that decent ones cost €500 or more.

Just got a pair of Longo Infuse on Ebay. “New with defects” for £160. The seller said they just had some dirt from storage but they are also missing a lace hook. I should be able to put a new one on though.

They are my usual 275 mondo (my feet are both 274mm) but are the tightest boots I’ve had in this size. The Vans footbed is really thick so I think when I put my thinner ones in my heel will sit further down and back in the pocket and make more space for my toes. Hopefully.

Agreed. Transcend is my first boa boot (2 seasons so far) and I love the dual H4 dials.

I'd love to shake my fist and say snowboard boots are over priced. Because the boots I want seem ridiculously priced in my mind too. I just don't know. if the margins and sell through was healthy enough... we'd still have Nike, Adidas, and probably a few more price point brands too.

Not to mention off season sales... such as you can pick up 32's for 50% off right now which puts entry level boots at $100. Good enough for most folks not buying top end or signature boots.
