havent tried that many directionals boards in ages so small recap.

nose and tail was suprisingly softer that i thought, mercury was stiffer lenght wise and torsionally it was pretty much medium but the board got pop and turned nicely, what felt weird was that the outsiders carved much more than that and held edge much better.

Are you able to elaborate a bit more; maybe provide a comp? I.e compared to the outsiders, mercury, doa or other board you’ve ridden, it’s stiffer/softer nose to tail, torsionally more/less stiff, more/less stable, more/less damp, more/less edge hold, prefers bigger or smaller radius turns, etc?

ill try.

outsiders felt most stiff. outsiders aeronaut mercury (( stiff to least ))

torsionally i would say the same ^ it was not super stiff but a nice medium flex, you could wiggle your edges up and down on the lift easy.

less damp than merc but conditions were shit ton of sugar snow and ice patches, outsiders pushed through harder than the aeronaut.

edgehold was good even though it didnt have deathgrip on it, and it turned pretty nimble so i can do fast turns on the side of the jumps easy and just lay a carve down.

anything else i can tell you about it, just drinking my morning coffee and trying to recall my memories of about 10 runs.

Thank you!! that’s awesome info!!! I find comparisons work well since people can stack the given board up against others they’re familiar with. In my case, I ride the outsiders, so that gives me a good sense of how the aeronaut feels. I imagine it also rides “long” for its size given the long effective edge.

I much prefer this style as well; it actually keeps your sleeve down rather than just covering your wrist in case your sleeve goes up. I think it makes more sense to keep your sleeve down than stuff a bunch of extra fabric in your glove and still have your sleeve go up in deep snow.

Looking at the outerwear and had this thought, color block and camo have been strong now for...like... a long ass time now. It makes me think that companies use both of these for cost savings. It's really rare to see custom prints anymore. Like in the early mid 2000's there was a lot of custom prints, space prints and neon prints and those matching jacket pant designs with robots and skeletons and just a lot of unique shit. Now it single colors, color block and the only print is camo. I expect it's because camo fabrics are more stock bc they're used in so many other clothing products. I expect things like cool prints and designs eat into margins and I wonder if we'll ever see that stuff en mass again.

686 does custom prints every season, and lots of them. But yeah, I see your point when looking at the industry as a whole.
