I’m kind of into skating and have never even heard of the guy. Theres a million good skaters now. Comp jocks don’t move product.
I do love that we are talking about skateboarding in this thread instead of step ons tho.
I mean… I wouldn't expect anyone "kind of" into skating to know every name, even if they're pretty well known and have been around a long time. It's hard to keep up even if skating is your main focus!
I always wonder what the reality is of any of these brands continuing to survive. Skating was my life for something like 20 years & I've been wearing emerica since before Reynolds had a shoe at all, and I wouldn't be surprised if they had to shut down at some point...
I maintain that there are toooooo many brands in skate & snow. Too much stuff. They can't all survive, and that's okay.
They’re direction and focus became quite clear to me when in the same year they introduced SO Split they axed the Malavitas and have not replaced them.
I was really confused by the Malavita disappearance but I just got a set of the new Genesis high backs and they are really nice and seem less likely to break try a the old version.
I have never ridden them but I think the Cartel X high backs are probably an improvement over the Malavita too (I run ‘vita high backs on older Cartel baseplates because the old Cartel high backs seemed a bit soft).
Anybody know what the K2 Commonwealth for 2026 is all about? Looks like the same shape as the Passport but different (higher end?) construction. Not sure if the specs Evo has listed are legit or not.

Hit up Jstone on IG. Chatted with him free times about the line and about my experience with the Instrument, he seems stoked to talk to consumers who actually know their shit and can talk intelligently about boards. Anyone who’s worked any level of snowboard retail can tell you how rare those consumers are lol.

Do any of you already have the Union catalogue?
I would be particularly interested in the shoes and StepOn?
Yes Sir! Good news is they have a lower price Point than the other step on/boots combo as you can see in the picture.
Bad news is they only made a soft park set up.. so the step ons maybe a little too soft for the hardcharging guy
