anyone going to be in the hokkaido area 1/18 to 1/27?

my wife is out of town for a bit and flights are so cheap to japan, a fun opportunity has presented itself!

What kind of flights are you seeing? I’m looking at around 1300$

700 for basic economy on delta and 1300 for comfort plus is what i saw out of denver. feels overwhelming to plan this level of a trip on short notice so might just stay in the states and chase here i think. need to get out there next season

yeah, I'm debating whether to make a trip out there last week of jan > early feb myself, — I have no clue what my itinerary I'd have as I'd be mostly solo, but seeing all these clips are tempting me

i have a loose friend over in niseko right now, and a buddy of mine who is an early retiree who can go do anything whenever. the clips look truly absurd and i am dying to make it over there.

my wife encouraged us to go, but i am too overwhelmed having never been there, so will have to do this for next szn. United runs a direct to tokyo out of DEN at rates that are cheaper than going to western europe, and these delta flights that have their layover in LAX (maybe not where i'd want to stop right now) are quite reasonable.

either way, will do proper planning and research more instead of looking at flights 8 days before i would fly there :D

Man, if the wife is encouraging ya'll and you have the time and resource, do it! You could just join one of those packaged trips where they plan everything and all you gotta do is show up. Otherwise, I don't think it'd be too crazy to roll up at Sapporo, rent a car (get your international driver's permit at AAA for $40), and then just cruise from one resort to the next in Hokkaido.

Hey Yukon,

I'll be in Niseko from the 16th - 25th w/ 3 others and heading to central Hokkaido after that. If you've booked and are looking for someone to ride with, I'll be there and happy to have you ride with us (we grabbed an Airbnb and it's full. Accom was a PITA and $). Plan is to do some touring of the area as well as the guys I'm riding with are learning how to do that.

From 25th - 1st we head to Furano. We do have space in our Airbnb here.

this. booking last min trips is easy if I'm familiar with the area, but I've never been to Japan so not knowing where to go, stay, etc is the biggest obstacle for me. I've reached out to some tour operators but most are booked for the dates I'd be looking at. Coming from NYC makes it a longer haul but def want to get this nailed down
