What did I just read lol
What is the overall theme behind your 2024/25 outerwear range? From which big trends do you take your inspiration?
Our overarching theme this year is Circus Circus, with three subthemes of Extraordinary, Mystifying and Death-Defying. Extraordinary focuses on being over the top, unapologetically bold, surprising and unimaginable, but using washed out pastels and and muted colours. Mystifying dips into puzzling and perplexing, looking at the magical and mystical in rich saturated tones, and finally Death-Defying centers on being hair raising and awe inspiring. Pushing past your fear and into your physical emotional and spiritual response.

you can thank this guy for that

Glad, but sad my info was right and I snagged those extra AK457 jackets seeing as they seemingly have dropped the offerings.
No it still exists, but it says GUIDE in huge letters across the back. Sani Alibabic is wearing a black one in that Red Bull Schnitzel Video.
That’s an old jacket. Was like 3 years ago when it had that on it.
I was told by people at Burton that it’s basically done for. Masa Takeuchi told a friend that was riding with him in February at his cat operation that it’s done as well, supposedly there’s a tiny bit of carry over that will be sold in China next season, but AK457 is done according to multiple people and I’ve not seen it in any catalogs for any market at all.
I’d love to be wrong, trust me.

Anyone else a little bummed that the trend towards jacket cuts are leaning towards shorter and boxy fits? No hate if that's your style, but it's a little disappointing when it seems like that's all that is being offered, especially for the upcoming season. Speaking from the perspective of a taller rider, not a very good look.

i'm in tokyo right now and have talked to few people in the last few days who have said this season was the last for ak457, things are very evident that B has been changing post-jake. i've been on the hunt for 457 but all sold out across town lol

Yeah, it's whack and I absolutely do have hate for it haha. Luckily AK and 686 are holding down the regular/traditional fits.

This is the info I need.... what brands / lines within brands are still making "normal" cut jackets or even ones with a little extra length (preferred)? I don't mind a baggy fit even as long as the length is appropriate.

All of the most recent AK jackets fit great. Longer cut and not overly baggy. Easily my favorite. 686's articulated fit is pretty good, too, with a similar length to AK but ever so slightly wider. I really like the 686 GLCR GT jacket's fit and it reminds me a lot of my AK Cyclic. Volcom's standard fit reminds me a lot of 686's but maybe even a touch wider. Volcom also makes a droptail fit that I love, but they hardly offer it in any jackets these days. Their 91 fit is the shorter/wider style.

Patagonia makes normal cut stuff as their designs are more aligned to high alpine buyers

Might need to pick up whatever gear I can this season, while some stuff is still made in cuts I prefer. Looking through most of the catalogs for next year it's looking like short and boxy is the overwhelming majority. As far as Volcom, you are correct, their standard and drop tail options are few and far between.
The question I ask is, are there really that many people looking for this specific look (baggy, but short cut and cinch the waist so your jacket just balloons from your body) that a vast majority of gear is being designed this way? Seems like such a niche look to cater to.... but maybe I'm just old. Again I don't mind baggy, but this is just different.
